I think the difference of 6 bucks is to much. I am seriously considering to start PSU pumps from the next reserve.
Come to think of it, I get 11.5 to 12 km pl in PSU and close to 13 in shell. That is about 5 bucks per litre more out of shell compared to PSU (Fuel cost/ Mileage= 60/12= Rs. 5 per km). It still evens out despite Shell being costlier by 6 Rs. per litre
Exact same reaction I had when i went to tank up yesterday at Shell. It seems like they are increasing the price every week. 6 bucks per liter difference is being a bit too greedy!!

Me too thinking of shifting to PSU pumps from the next fill onwards.

Yes, have filled tankfuls in this bunk thrice now and the Q & Q is great! Am going to stick to this bunk for now. Filled here this morning and noticed that the owner strolls around managing the attendants at 7:00 AM.

@gpa
This was the only bunk (Jalahalli Service Station) I frequented when I lived at Vidyaranyapura! In fact I had never used any other bunk during my entire five year stay at Bangalore. This one is IOC but don't visit the HP bunk adjacent to this.

You are quite right my friend. I was cheated once by the HP pump adjacent to it sometime last year after which I switched to Shell. Since the price hikes, I went back to this IOC and have had no problems. Other things being constant, mileage figures and more importantly engine performance are as good as Shell, so am not complaining

I drove down to Satara last week.
Generally pull over at the Shell Station at Khed Shivapur on Bangalore Highway.

Was surprised to see it shut. Don't know if it was temporary or permanent.
Gosh, we're losing the Shells one by one around Pune.

Hope they come up better prices, before they are wiped out.

I am sticking with Shell for now as my usage is low. My outflow for petrol per month is Rs 500 for bike and Rs 1000 for car (not counting any highway use, of course!) and I intend to maintain status quo till this goes awry!

Oh no! We always fill up from there when going to Panchgani. Its a fairly new bunk... can't understand what Shell's strategy is.

I am gonna stick with shell, mainly due to trust.
I do not have to worry if the meter is tampered or suspect the quality of fuel.

I think their ad "I swear by shell" has really made an impact, and it seems to be true.

At that location Permanently.

The monthly rent alone was INR 3,40,000/- and the income was not enough to cover total expenses. The vending stations and other equipment are to be shifted to a location in or around Pune.

Does anybody know whether the prices have gone up again after this BS-IV fuel introduction?

Even without BS-IV, Shell prices were on the rise due to the increasing cost of crude in the international market. Shell prices from a week back, i.e. 14th April 2010.

0. Shell Super Unleaded Petrol - Rs.62.91

1. Shell Unleaded Petrol - Rs.61.46

2. Shell Diesel - Rs.46.54

@vigneshA: filled today morning @ Hosur road Shell and the price for super was 61.50 rs/ltr. I am not 100% sure, but I think normal was 59.50 rs/ltr.

I guess the Rs. 10 difference is going to come down - read in today's paper than Petrol and Diesel from PSU pumps are going to see a hike of Rs 6 / Rs 5 respectively?!!

(Of course, if Shell too hikes the prices accordingly, then screw them and go with the PSU!!!)

Yet another hike again! I think even I will switch over to PSUs at this rate. One reason I don't worry too much is because I drive very low miles per month. But on the highway, I would prefer Shell for sure.
