no no the website is being hosted by Maruti,Hyundai,Tata etc.See the earlier site www.fiat-india.com is registered upto may 2005 i think(seen somewhere on tbhp).now they ran into some trouble with the hosting or designing firm.now since the domain is registered they cannot use that same name anymore.

Other case maybe that since the site is under construction it is not Fully operational yet.search for Fiat-india.com using google and u get this site.It takes some money to register the site in ur Own name(own domain name) or list it on a search engine.see my site it has 2 domain names because i am using free hosting.
who do u think can help Fiat like this,no one other than fiat.

Enter techie! Ok, I currently administrate multiple domain name and web servers, therefore I have a pretty good about this.

A domain name consists of only two parts, example fiat.com or microsoft.com, etc. In an address like www.microsoft.com, www refers to a web server hosting machine and microsoft.com the domain name. If you want to buy a domain name, you have buy them from companies like Network Solutions, Register.com, etc.

So, what about addresses like http://www.msdn.microsoft.com ?
Here, msdn is a sub domain. You don't have to buy sub-domain from anybody. You can just create a sub domain within your organisation. Your system admin can do that for you.

Ever wonder why Fiat didn't select fiatindia.com as their domain name? Turns out a Hongkong squatter is hogging that address. Then I wondered why didn't Fiat India go for fiat.co.in domain which is available only to companies registered in India. Turns out that domain was again stolen by some chinese guys just 6 days back. Talk about Fiat's luck

However, the domain fiat-india.com is owned by somebody in Italy.

Usually most companies make www.domain.com and domain.com point to the web server. It is just a question of adding an extra entry in the DNS server. However, Fiat India's web hoster haven't bothered to do that. Therefore the address fiat-india.com points to a proper webserver. However, the address www.fiat-india.com points to nothing.

www.carsonline.4t.com

In the above address,

www is the web server
carsonline is the subdomain created by the sysadmin.
4t.com is the domain name provided by the Domain Registrar.

BTW, now I know how the chinese guys were able to steal Indian domain names. Starting Feb 16th, private companies are in charge of allocating .in domain names. The fiat.co.in was stolen on the same day.

I really dont see how it is an achievement to take two weeks and come back with a "Under Construction" website.

For last two weeks they have been thinking if it's worth coming back.

For next three week they'll think how to come back.

The whole process is 'Under construction' and trespasser will be prosecuted.
