Excise duty hiked for vehicles above 1500 cc!

Just saw a ticker on NDTV 24x7.

All cars over 1500cc will have an excise duty hike of 15000.00

All cars over 2000cc will have an excise duty hike of 20000.00

Inflation strikes again.

Ah, here comes the blow I was expecting after the fuel price hike drama. Let the things get a bit settled down and make some other move to make money.

All this happens due to the vote-bank politics of the politicians! In other words, the politics in our country is dirty and disgusting. We cannot say that the NDA is better than the UPA. In hindi we say Chor, Chor, Mauseyre Bhai.

Is it for all models? I mean petrol, diesel, CNG etc? Then this is not good sign. Already car sales are told to be lowering due to the current oil price. Atleast they should exempt green cars like CNG & LPG... Just my thought...

It is for ALL VEHICLES > 1500 cc.

I wish we at Team-BHP made these policies for the Govt. Of India. Unfortunately we don't. Also, this hike is not all. The govt. has also removed the customs duty on the export of Flat Iron including galvanized iron, which is used for the body of our vehicles. So if the exports of flat iron grows then the prices for Indian car manufacturers to procure them will also increase. Thus, we can expect another hike in car prices soon. I think my dream of owning a Safari will remain just that, a dream.

Edit: Even though the excise hike will affect vehicles above 1500cc. This cut on customs duty on flat iron will affect all vehicles. I hate this govt. more now.

i think this is the downward point in our economy. as they say all things which go up come down. this is another pointer towards some bad recession times ahead. we cant blame the government as it will try to cover up its losses one way or the other.

All the news channels are reporting that the excise duty on cars are up. The cars with 1500 cc is up by Rs.15,000 and for 2000 CC and above the excise duty is up by Rs.20,000. So guys who are planning to buy the cars be cautioned and surprised for a new price. Dunno what FM is upto these days. Already inflation is up, to 8.75% for week ending May 31. The prices of essential commodities are already soaring and now this...Our politicians does not want Aam Aadmi to leave peacefully.

Anyway is the excise duty a flat rate or a percentage of the ex-factory price?

This move will be to get the fund lost by the govt, by reducing the taxes on fuel...Aam admi will not bye a big car..... so the move is to get funds thats it..just don't think of byeing a big car this year thats it.. small cars wont, be expansive, or is the duty on these cars increased too , I have not seen the News. And also the fuel consumption these engines [capacities mentioned] is on higher side so .. you get it right..

Flat rate for the excise duty which is charged when a vehicle leaves the factory.

As far as the govt. is concerned, I for sure did not vote for any of the parties involved in the UPA. Also, it hardly makes a difference which party or collation is in the chair. I already said it and will say it again, Chor, Chor, Mauseyre Bhai.

Whoever comes to power, it will be us (as in the Middle Class) who will suffer.

OT: The reason for Aam aadmi is bearing the burnt is due to the inflation rise to 8.75% highest in 3 years.

Coming back to topic, it is for the cars which are above 1500 cc and above.

OT: Nobody elected this govt. It was a hung assembly during last general elections. The marriage between UPA and Left is not to develop the country but to keep out another national combine out of power and they have achieved their motive.
