Heres the First Drive report of the A Star (a la Suzuki Alto elsewhere) on Autocar UK

Suzuki Alto - Road Test First Drive - Autocar.co.uk

First impressions seem positive,
Any news whether the Indian version is getting roll down windows at the rear.

Super HOT! I love the shape of the rear passenger window, just like a 2 door hot hatch. (visibility be dammed).

The HR number also shows that the car is produced from the company's Manesar facility in Haryana. I was also reading somewhere that the car is designed by 2 young Indians who work for Suzuki india - Rajesh Kumar Gogu and Saurabh Singh of Maruti Suzuki India. In fact, the concept of Maruti A Star is a first for Maruti Suzuki India's research and development team.

loads and loads of cost cutting. All door handles same, open type glove box, fixed rear glass, cheap looking plastics and minimal plastic cladding used in the interiors.

Came Across few pics of Splash which is going to be launched in the month Jan-Feb. Looks neat With the launch of Astar and Splash, Suzuki could be the front runner in their segments. Good going.

GUYS PLEASE CHILL DOWN!

the Indian A-star WILL COME with rear normal roll down windows.I am 100 % sure since I have seen the car physically.

But, even the ZXI top end version DOES NOT have a rear wiper, though it has a defogger and finally-a rear parcel tray.

Anyone noticed the rear seats? They are just like the Swift

And the front seat headrests are like the i10.

the photos have been shot in delhi,HR 26,IS GURGAON registration, but how the car is a L-H-D.seats,steering,gear knob, power window switches, are similar to the swift.the door handles are not coloured(body colour),same with the mirrors.
ALSO NO RPM meter in the LHD car!!

One cannot have everything specially in a small car. Maruti cars always had interior quality of not the best variety. But they always do the job and mostly will not let one down. They also represent good value, and the reason for their success is also because of good reliablility.

I am sure this car will find success provided it is priced at a point where it represents good VFM package.
The boot space is a bit limited otherwise atleast the dash design looks fresh.

The A-Star looks like its going to be the next 'ugly duckling', after the first generation SANTRO and the soon to be phased out CITY (Pre-facelift). It also looks to be heavily inspired by the i10, especially the front treatment. Looks like Maruti has not learnt its lessons, the SWIFT was heavily criticized for its small rear windows which gave the rear seats occupants claustrophobia, and now they've done an encore with the A-Star
