People don't have much expectations from Fiat (including me) but yes, they have been on time for the launch of the Palio Stile 1.1, MJD and the 500 so far. When you have sunk so low, then you can go higher, or get obiliterated.

I think the Linea will be launched in mid-September or October or so. I think they will do that. How it will fare is a different story.

I know it looks beautiful and cute but 12 lakh?
Both the Fiat 500 and The Bravo are supposed to be "image-building" launches and not volume products. I think they are just selling these cars to create some interest and hype. Raking in the volumes has been left for the Linea and Grande Punto. Where it's going to lead Fiat India is what time will tell.

This is one cool car! If I had the money I'd surely go for it.

This sounds good! So has there been any official word on when the Linea and the Punto will be launched? Maybe they would be launched on time as well

Now what we need is the Mini to give FIAT some competition.

I can imagine this car as the fashion accessory of many a socialite! Great looking car, will surely make Fiat (Tata-Fiat?!) showrooms look better and give them a much needed image boost.

i agree with you GTO. There will be takers eventhough the pricing could exceed 15lakh+.This one from FIAT, will definately improve the image of FIAT in India and cheer the FIAT fans who are dissappointed with the company's poor show in recent times

That's certainly a good news. Hope the fiat lovers will rejoice with this. What would be the OTR? I think it may be a "great fuel guzzler".

Default Magic Number

I think the Magic Number for FIAT is 12 lacs ex showroom. Anything above that, and even the socialites will look the other way.

With Jettas, new Lancers and Lauras around the corner, why would a socialite be seen in something small and dinky, regardless of the cute factor.

Fiat India HAS to price this right (relatively), to get its image capitalization right!

given that its 8-9 lacs INR (10k pounds) in the UK, I wouldn't expect it to be lower than 12 lacs here. Hope they offer enough options for that amount to make it attractive. I hear there will be very few of these sold (to keep it limited edition), so i doubt if we will see them lying around at showrooms or available for test drives

when i had been to the AUTO EXPO, there were huge crowds in FIAT stall. It was evident that people were crazy about the sheer looks of 500 and FIAT personnel had already bookings on hand.the pricing was reveled to be close 15lakh+, and inspite of this premium, people were all praise for this sexy looking car.IMO, the 500 was a better eye catcher than Linea/bravo/punto.This car will surely have a niche group going for it irrerspective of large sized competing products

Red face

if you check the fiat india 500 page
Fiat India :: Showroom : 500
you will notice that it is only going to be launched in India with the 75bhp multijet diesel engine which according to most reviewers is crap when compared to the 100bhp 1.4 ltr petrol
heres a topgear video on that

If only they had the brains to launch it with the rev happy 1.4 ltr 100bhp engine which even beats the bmw mini
