I cant believe this car is so expensive and as usual its been detuned for this country. You have to be a real fool to spend so much money on such a small car. The guys at Hyundai must have had a hearty laugh.

Are you saying those who are buying Mini, 500 cars in other countries are fools?

Pls remember these are lifestyle cars intended for small niche buyers, and not for common public!

As for Hyundai, Maruti etc, they can only be perplexed on seeing such cars as they don't have the prowess or skills to make such awesome cute cars!

Whats the price of the 1.3MJD in Europe with the same features as we get in India? For some reason the UK site is only allowing me to configure the 1.2 variant. Once we know the UK prices we can understand the real reason for the almost 15L price tag. Maybe Fiat delibrately chose to price the car a bit higher even after factoring in the customs duty.

On the positive side, they are giving us a lot of options for customisations on the car. Take a look at the standard equipment across all variants:

front driver and passenger airbags, sidebags, window bags, knee bags. There is even a lane change indicator as standard, DRL's, hazard activation in panic braking, dual drive power steering, follow me home headlights and Blue & Me!. Lounge even gets sunroof with sunblinds as standard. You can choose ESP, electirc passenger seat with memory (means drivers seat gets this as standard?) and a host of customisations and colours in line with what European customers get.

Look at the positive side guys. For the price, Fiat hasn't cheapened out on features. This little car gets more features then some luxury ones too. I think I even saw rear parking sensors in the list somewhere!

EDIT: I configured a 1.3 MJD Lounge on the UK website with almost all features as the Indian variant. The total On Road Price is showing as GBP13,045. This comes to approx Rs. 10.5 lacs (GBP13,045 X Rs.80). Deduct UK VAT (How much is VAT in UK?) and add 102% customs duty(?) and I think the Rs.15Lac price tag is probably okay.

The car has been launched and with the Ex showroom Delhi price (14.23) for both the models Sports and Lounge

This Car is to be bought from your heart and as a statment rather than from your head for practicality!

15Lakhs is too much the asking cost for this car. It might be able to stand out, but the weakest link is the engine. It has got less torque than Swift!

I wonder what level of success it can sustain.

Guy i had the chance to attend the press conf which was held befor the launch and it was clearly said in that conf that the 500 launch is more of a Brand Building effort for Fiat India and not a Sales Target thing, Fiat wont feel a pinch even if not a single 500 is sold they happy with all the publicity that its getting. The Bravo is soon to follow.

Will they give me one free of cost ? It won't pinch them. And I will go FIAT FIAT FIAT everywhere, I promise.

What Brand Building are they trying to achieve ?

The guy in the white car is an famous artist named Jayesh Sachdev who drove the 500 over the thrown paint on the white floor and made a design , was kool to watch the way he drove the cute little car, the 500 is not a Peoples car its for them who got 3-4 cars and want a style statement for the weekends. Posting a few pics of Jayesh and his art. Also Isa Sharvani performed a wonderfull display of Gymnastics and Martial Arts. And yes Lara did get a Red colored Fiat 500 the same night.

One Fiat 500 = 12 Nanos

Although Nano is no where near to class and luxury Fiat 500 will be offering but still makes me think.........................

15 Lacs is too much for this car, it sure is cute, but the asking price is just too high, for 15 Lacs I would rather buy some good luxuary car, or 1 big car and 1 small car for myself.

I agree, this is absolute rubbish. I'd like to see the people who are supporting this go out and buy one. They'd most probably end up buying a Skoda with that kind of money.

I must earn enough money to throw in the drain first and only after that I would be comfortable to buy this one at the current price
