Wow! I wonder what the Hyundai canteen serves - it must be good stuff.

The current month's production is expected to be entirely exported, company officials said. Queried about the launch of i20, a new model, Jha said the car will be launched this October.

Will the I20 come with a 1.4L - 1.5L option in petrol? How good will a 1.2L be on a I20? It will be heavier than an I10 and get the same engine? There's a recipe for success!! If only the Palio 1.6 have the ABS and airbags option. Would have bought it months ago!

Santro 1.1 - - -> i10 1.2 Kappa
Getz 1.3 - - - > i20 1.4 Kappa

i20 will INITIALLY come with the 1.2 kappa. However the 1.4 successor to current Getz 1.3 engine will make a debut at a later stage. AFAIK it is currently under development/testing.

just wait for the I20 with 1.5crdi with ABS and airbags!![its gonna be a rocket just like current getz but better vehicle dynamics!! on the lines of elantra!!!!!]
this was the response i got for giving a feedback on negatives of current getz diesel.
[ i meantioned lack of ABS and airbags and the bodyroll]
no ideas about the pertrol. frankly i didnt bother to ask..hihi.
so the wait is gonna be worth it..

peace out!

IF the diesel engine is same as verna, then its definitely a great news.
We will have a pocket rocket.
But, I dont think diesel model would be priced anywhere below 7lac bracket.
That pitches i20 against fabia then and out of my current budget.

I will have to save more i guess.

I waited and waited for the Fabia, and it turned out to be a dud with the underpowered and overpriced 1.2 and the massively loud and overpriced 1.4 TDI! Now I'm waiting for the i20. I only hope that my wait doesn't go up in smoke. Something tells me this car will be overpriced by 20-30k, just like the i10 is.

Well, that can be a good thing if the car offers the satisfaction levels like the i10, but I feel that the 5-7 lacs bracket consumer is more features minded if he's going in for a hatch. Obviously, he has the options of a sedan but prefers a smaller but feature rich car!

Unfortunately, the definition of "features" is where Hyundai goes wrong - storage spaces (Verna), beige interiors (Getz, i10, Verna) and variable intermittent wipers (Getz) don't qualify as features - ABS, Airbags, automatic climate control does!

They've done many things right with the i10. I'm hoping for the best with the i20!

@greenhorn : 1st of all its mentioned that its a hatchback. The grille clearly points towards the Hyundai. Quite clearly the i20.

Guys,

I am back. Ok so overall nobody is sure which car it is. When I went through the i20 pics, the car I spotted is very much like i20 from rear. Even the main grill is kind of similar to i20. It is not FIAT for sure. Bravo and Punto both have grills lower than headlights and not in line with headlights.

Next time I see this car near my place, I will stand there and click all possible pics. Sorry for only front pics this time.
