Wow! What a design.

I wonder, is it really tough for designers to have some aesthetic sense ?

Why are we being so vocal about a new born. Lets welcome it rather than criticise it. It takes a lot of effort and hardwork to bring a product out, especially when you are an Indian manufacturer in the proces of trying to design a world class product. Lets first congratulate the team.

Coming to the looks, I recall not liking the Sumo Grande at all in the Launch photos, but the vehicle looks much better in the flesh than in the photographs that were used to represent it. I am sure its a similar case for the Xylo. Lets give it some time.

Congratulations to the M&M team.

Its an okay package overall. safety features missing though, the side looks a lot like Tavera/ Panther and the Toyota Unser and the rear resembles a lot like LC Prado and Lexus GX 470 i feel.

Will this become the Innova killer as every one's been saying. Honestly, I dont think so. Pricing wise this might be a good alternative to the Tavera, but if this is going to be my personal vehicle then I will not mind putting in some more cash & buying the Innova. Innova has proved itself in the market. Its not going to be easy at all.
Any one knows when the face lifted version of the Innova is coming? Is that going to be the Xylo Killer?

I will give it the UCOTY 2009 (Ugly Car Of The Year) award to this one. I was expecting Mahindra will be launching the car to compete with Innova, Grande or Tavera. But this one looks more concentrated towards the Cab owners.

There were three sets of designers for the Xylo. The first group designed the front the second the rear and the third the sides. Now when all of them became bored they went at the interior. Naturally the marketing team was confused by this and thought it was a sedan.

This is the truth behind the Xylo(as in X-ray-'unknown ray' , X-y-lo- unknow car/MPV/SUV[y], better lie low).

Just saw the autocar review and pics posted by them .

I would say the M&M have done a good job with Interiors. It looks plush and perfect at all place. Nice steering wheel !!! Kudos to M&M for the nice Interior Design.

Should see it in flesh !! As things could be different.

One small view, why does Mahindra want to stick to the the Tall Boy design for an MPV!!!! I'm sure this design would have looked lots better if it was a bit short.

Mahindra seems to be totally messed up with the Xylo website. It is behaving strangly and I can't click on the links. Tried in Firefox and opera .

Without dwelving into any body modifications, does this do something to reduce some of the heaviness (van-ness) of the rear portion.

Frankly, I was expecting a better looker but, the bulky shape has been made by keeping internal room in mind. From what I have heard, the third row can sit comfortably as well. It is more of a van rather than a SUV. I will comment more once I see it in flesh and experience the engine.

Welcome Xylo!

Has anyone else noticed the shut-lines? IMO they are extremely well done! Could be the pics - but it gives me a good first impression.

Also I beg to differ on the styling - IMO its more interesting than the boring profile of the Innova and the cladding just above the wheels look interesting, the head lamps have a nice shape, only if they can finalize a good, corporate grill!

Also the section behind the C pillar (read door) looks visually longer than anything else out there today, which could only mean more space. and the mouth watering starting price - good first impression.
