Just Ratan Tata concluded his speech and he has squarely blamed MB for his pullout due to her agitation informed that plant cannot function with police protection. He also informed and wondered that where did she get the money for agitation.

He also informed that youth of WB has to decide on industrialization or mindless agitation.

Its a very sad day for WB and BB unless they take some drastic measures immly, they will be out of race in the fast growing industrialization. Hope MB also learns a few lessons from this episode.

I guess West Bengal is stuck with an ailing Hindustan Motors. No other car manufacturer is gonna go there. Very sad indeed.

Its not only car manufacturer, even the IT companies are fearing to step into WB now. Infy and Satyam has already announced that they are watching the situation very closely. Its a matter of time that they will also pull the plug on setting up their unit in WB.

Angry

I read all these comments saying Tata pullout is bad and what MB did is not good.

However, does any poster even know the details of the issue?

Are the locals of singur stupid enough to blindly follow mamta?

Well, here are the issues:

1. Many landowners did not agree to sell their land to tatas.
2. The land was acquired without the owners consent.
3. The land was brought at rates not agreeable to land owners.

So WB govt acquires private property for a private business at subsidised rate.

Imagine how will u react if your land in Bangalore or Delhi was acquired by govt at govt circle rate and sold to SRK or Amitabh Bachchan? (fyi..in gurgaon govt circle rate is 1400 psf or so AFAIK while market rate is 3000+).

So imagine...your 2000sft flat in gurgaon which costs 60 L is acquired by govt for 28L to give to SRK and then you are told its for national good. And when you oppose, the whole country calls you anti-national.

Well its simple really, Ratan Tata isnt making a house there to live in, He's making a factory that can do a lot of good to WB let alone Singur. These people whose opposed to this take over a far fewer compared to those who have already done so. Well at least this minority have had it their ways and the factory is out of WB.

This is actually better f in the long term, cos once begun Tatas will always be at the risk of these anti social elements.

Allrite, now that Tata is finally out, these people should be happy (along with Ms. Banerjee offcourse!)

Edit:
Tickers from CNBC TV18:
Mamta Banerjee: Its a conspiracy between the Tatas and WB Govt.

Really, what is Ms. Banerjee smoking?

i agree with u, this issue is not new and happens in every state. but considering the present situation the farmers in singur loose more, not only the farmers who sold their land but an entire district i can say (atleast 50 kms surrounding the area). and add to that the state govts image.

Well, isnt this free market economy? Is Ratan tata out there to do social service?

Some back of the napkin calculcation shows that the landowners were getting Rs 18/sq ft of land. Check the link i posted above...this guy was getting 50000 for 2.4 kathas (2700 sft) of land.

If the factory was going to do so much for WB, then WB and infact whole country could have pooled together and paid market price or even above market price to landowners. Why did no one do that and instead forcefully acquired land?

What has Tata got to do with this? It is the WB govt who had decided to give that piece of land to tatas and if WB govt had informed at beginning itself, that they cannot provide this land, tatas would have surely gone to some other state (like Pune, Uttarkhand, maybe Dharwad) for Nano production.

But we need to see this in a broader perspective. There will be many a lost opportunities now for industralization in WB.

see this is the problem of our country. No one addresses the issue but jumps into blame game. MB needed some votes and she jumped up and grabbed the opportunity. had BB handled the issue properly and created a win-win situation, he would have probably got the votes.

Tatas are probably pissed off at WB govt more than anything. i am sure Ratan tata could have handled the issue better than BB and MB.

Why not talk to the landowners and hear out their issues? Why not offer them lucrative compensation or share from factory's profits or take their land on lease or provide alternate land (equitably fertile)? [Mind you, our govt has done all of the above in different projects].
