Now, it seems like WB government and MB will have to pay from their pockets to get Tata back there. They should pay for all the losses caused, provide some sops and treat them well in the future. But again, what guarantee from these foolish people? | |

| ^ that article makes a point. However, there is one more aspect: Mamta's plea that livelihood of many would be snatched away (because of the land grabbing by the Govt)? There were local ppl who had built plans of running businesses that would serve the TATA employees. Simple thing as paan shops next to TATA gates, would've fetched then much more income than farming a 100 sq yards piece of land. Few ppl even tried comitting suicide when they came to know about the status of the project, and that TATA might just pull-out. Ofcourse in a democracy, everyone's voice and opinions must be heard out. Mamta might have been right in fighting for those whose land was grabbed. But then what about those, who had planned better things in life, and in all possibility sold their lands willingly. Second thing. If TMC was really so much concerned, they should've put spanners to work in the initial stages of land acquisition. Why the hue and cry was not raised. The execution from the WB govt, has been no doubt been shady and substandard. Ofcourse looking at this subject economically and totally devoid of any passion - usage of fertile land for industrial plant is a total waste. However, in a similar way - I can also say that tilling of small holdings of land is very uneconomical way - economy if scales also apply to agriculture. Its not just the industries that are goverened by economics. Considering that - as an income to nation (GDP), more ppl tilling small holdings of land is less valuable than a large industry coming up, employing more ppl on an aggregated piece of land formed by those small holdings. |
