Everything in Bangalore/ Karnataka is expensive. Imagine road tax at 15% of the ex showroom price....

Karanataka charges the highest taxes on fuel. Generally higher for petrol and less for diesel. The price difference in Petrol between KA and KL is approx Rs.4, but the difference in diesel price is Rs.2.

The components to my knowledge are Excise duty, Cess on Excise duty, sales tax(state tax) and cess for road development (state tax). I am made to understand that Karnataka charges an additional cess for metro project in Bangalore over and above this.

46 odd for petrol in Cochin.

Petrol prices are heart rending in B'lore; but what about non-b'lore places in K'taka?

And prices typically vary according to the distance from neaest refinery. So, in kerala, it is cheapest at Cochin/Ernakulam, coz. we have the Cochin Refineries nearby. There is a marginal rise (even 0.05 Rs) to up to 70 Paise) in other parts of KL. And, AFAICT, fuel is second cheapest in KL, among SOuthern States. Pondy is cheapest - about 50 to 60 ps cheaper per liter (in Mahe).
