| a minimum Rs 5 increase it quoted. I wonder why they don't double the price of the fuel and let it stay thatway for the next 8 odd years. Price changes up until 2003 were good now days they shock me more.

dont know if they ever considered lowering taxes or probably nowadays, they consider petrol a commodity like salt, but with a catch. they think it'd sell in the same volume, regardless of the price. One optio im considering is moving to CNG. But hey, if people start using cng more they'd slap heavy taxes on Gobar gas too. Or Do like grandma says they'd done with the 7 seater master Buick during the world war time when petrol was scarce, gotten a gas plant to power the car! and ran the car on coal-steam power, it will still be cheaper than running the car on petrol.

Infractions: 0/1 (3) | In Chennai, I find that many stations are displaying the NO STOCK board. I believe that the Oil Companies are resorting to cut in supplies. This in effect, is a sort of RATIONING;but without any legal sanction. Also, there have been instances of forcing the customer to purchase the Premium Petrol or Diesel because the Oil companies are supplying only these Premium fuels. I wonder where we are heading to and will there be any solution? Is the scenario different in other parts of India? Ananth ![]() |

| BHPian | Guys after so many days of filling normal petrol, the HP club pump tells me only power is there, and it is 4 rs more than normal petrol, thats cheating the public, we should have the right to choose

They know that anyone refuelling at this time might be a little desperate if not on their way during travel, so people end up buying the more expensive fuel. I have seen this tactic being employed routinely at HP stations only, not so much at IOC or BP. | |

| BHPian | Today in Chennai it was total confusion and chaos. Almost all of the petrol bunk that i crossed was closed. There were huge queue and traffic. I even saw people standing in long queue with diesel can to get diesel . I don't why !Is there any announcement on price hike? or is it due to the lorry strike that has been called for? |

| BHPian | the chaos at chennai is due to the lorry strike. as it is chennai has been facing a shortage of regular unleaded petrol and normal diesel over the past week. and with the lorry strikes absolute shortage is perceived,
