Default Corolla Altis G v/s Civic E MT

Hey Guys,

Revising this topic again..and plan to be more specific

Corolla Altis G v/s Civic EMT

Can you please provide some decision making tools and comments to hep me decide?

I have seen the Civic in the showroom and it rocks..havent seen the Altis yet...
If I compare on paper, the Civic G has lost many features that the V variant has, while the Altis G has most of those required features that are given in the GL.

But expert opinion is required to help me decide.

^^ Your profile Avtar shows that you are going to buy Altis. Go for it if you are buying now or else wait for the facelift Civic which will be out very soon. Hopefully Honda going to raise the bar against Altis.

You specifically asked between Civic E and Altis G. Between these two Altis G is the undisputed winner. You can see from the poll above as well as reading here. Even many Civic enthuse agree on that point. The real trouble start when you are choosing between the V and GL or AT.

This poll is old when Civic E was 11 lakhs ex showroom, with revised pricing, Civic is a solid proposition!

I agree Aseem..

TD the Civic just now..Amazing.. no doubt... is better than the Altis.. Took it over some potholes at 60 kmph kind of speeds..

The bottom did not brush except in once case where the pot hole was pretty deep. ( I wouldn't take my Indica also through such a bad one) So I am not sure if the low bottom is really a issue..

Any personal, second hand exp on the low clearance??

Colour is a big ???

Shortlisted: Bluish Silver & Carbon Bronze Pearl

The TD vehicle was Misty Violet and that looked cool too

I need some help on the Aux input for the Music system...for the E variant. Its not standard.. Anyone got it done??

Well, to cut thing short, there is a the most easy way to decide between them.

Listen to your heart & go for Civic.

Listen to your brain & go for Altis.

Isn't it that simple.

I have a Misty Violet Civic A/T.

Plenty of personal experience with underbody and suspension hits. Point is that the Civic has a long wheelbase and thus scrapes easier than something which has an even lower GC like the Octavia. The problem is exasperated by the soft suspension which lowers the car even more when fully loaded. In such conditions, you have to be extra careful.

We had to take the car offroad a couple weeks ago and there were a few hits, scrapes and thumps. Broke my heart each time, but an underbody inspection at the A.S.S showed the rubber coating scraped away, but no other damage.

Point of the matter is, if you don't drive in Bangalore, scrapes will be rare.

As for colours, the white looks stunning. Carbon Bronze looks awesome as well. The Silver is not to my taste partly because it's so ubiquitous. Of course, the Violet shade is also brilliant. You'll have a hard time maintaining the darker shades though. Be prepared to spend good time in keeping it shining and you'll be happy.

Hope that helps.

You should search the Long Term Ownership forums for threads by owners. You'll be able to gain a lot of info from them.

My personal experience is more than the long wheel base, the soft suspension is the culprit for scarping the humps.
But when you learn the "art" of crawling over the humps the problem is solved. I used a Baleno earlier and IMHO Civic in comparison.

BTW I bought an E variant at 108000 (Before CEN Vat cut) and added Alloy, Spoiler and Foglamps.

My dad is looking for a new car in the 11L-12L range. My suggestions to him have been the Civic and the Altis. He prefers Corolla Altis as he is definitely not pleased the Honda's A.S.S. in Gurgaon (Ring Road Honda) for his current OHC VTEC and shorter service period (5K).

Any feedback on Altis and Toyota's A.S.S.?
