Default Skoda Laura badged as Octavia

Is it just me or others who have noticed this.

In the past week or so, I have seen as many as two Lauras badged as "Octavia". I understand, in markets other than India, the Laura is the new Octavia. But in India, it is common knowledge that both models are sold side by side, with Laura slightly in the upper price point.

Has anyone else seen this? What could be the reasons, if this is true?

Even if they phase out the Octi, there is no way they can change Laura's name back to the original.

Will look out from today.

They cant rename it unless they stop selling the old Octavia.

Or maybe they are short of badges!

I am pretty darn sure it was a Laura badged as Octavia. And I spotted two different cars with the same feature. So, this is not a one-off case.

Or maybe I am plain stupid not to distinguish between a Laura and an Octy :( (This can't be true being a T-BHPian )

Or he didn't like the sound of the...ahem....name that Skoda India chose for the new Octavia. I wouldn't be surprised if they give the boot to the Octy. It has gotten really long in the tooth now. Plus, the Laura does sell more than the Octy anyways.

I read in the latest ACI that Skoda is planning to launch 1.4TFSI and other lower-end engines on our Octavia, and price it lower. They will also get the Laura VRS (180 or 200bhp variant).
So, knowing the penchant of companies in India, why obsolete anything - Octavia will yet have more life ?

If I ever buy the Lolla, first thing I'll do is get rid of that badge and get an Octavia badge.
