I am not sure if this has been reported. The CRDe version of the beast is launched.
Mahindra Bolero

The Bolero is a SUV that excites me for its sheer torque which unlike cars come in very early. I just love driving it around in city conditions like an automatic. Equally powerful on the highway as well though not as refined as the Qualis. I will never own one due to practicality issues for my use. The Beast just got better..

Thumbs up Bolero - Beast got better with CRde Heart

Hi Folks Mahindra has launched new Bolero VLX.

The beast is powered by the 2.49 Common Rail Diesel Engine (CRDe) which churns out an impressive power output of 97bhp at 3200rpm (42% more than the current engine).

The max torque is also upped to 255Nm which avaialble in the range of 1800-2200rpm. The new model offered a quantum leap in power and performance due to an electronic computer controlled engine management system.

”It also offers a superior driving experience and an advanced level of refinement with reduced NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) level.

So Big boys ready for the Fun?

It has been launched, price 6.90 ex-showroom.

97 bhp 255 Nm torque - the perfect vehicle now.

Well some drawback which i feel should have been answered.
No defogger or rear windshield wiper.
No rvm controls
No alloys as options atleast
I didnt see the 4wd option being available too.

@spitfire i guess you got the new version of the bolero right. Is the water splashing on the windscreen issue solved?

In all the critcal comments i forgot. Mahindra great effort. Brilliant choice of engine. Will really want to test this out.

Wow thts a good news. I remember the sales guys was telling that this is going to happen when I went for a TD of Scorpio. He mentioned that the engine from Scorpio goes to Bolero and will be released. I thought it was a usual sales man talk

No dude, i have the older (better looking one) and no the problem still exists.

Yeah the rear defogger and windshield wiper could have been great.

The alloys are available as seen in the pic but not an option per se, you get them at the dealer.

To all who have driven a Bolero (72.5 bhp or the 68 bhp) imagine 97 bhp. Time to overtake those puny hatchbacks and saloons, also give a run to all the Safari and Scorpio owners. They have run enough rings around us, payback time. Please take this in good humour and not jump on me.

There was supposed to be improvement in the brakes, the delay in the launch was due to the brakes not being effective. Expect a bigger booster. Was supposed to ride on 16 inchers but the site still mentions 15, probably the guy who updated the site missed out on that. Would be surprising if it comes out with 15" wheels.

Need to look at one first to say anything further.

No 4x4 version, but seriously the Bolero as per me even in 4x4 mode is really not such a good offroader. Mild stuff is good but the LWB and weight is a serious handicap.

What this is though is a long distance tourer for Indian conditions. There are better options but then we arent talking about options.

Add a +1 to it. Perfect one and is light on the pockets of the common man too.
