In US, even Accord is not a luxury car, but it a luxury car in India. I think But in US Sonata comes with more goodies compared to Accord.

What is the price difference between the two cars in US?

Yes Satish, that was my point. India is a very different market to the West. What I find surprising is that Hyundai have it bang on with their pricing for the Santro and Accent, however they loose the plot with the bigger vehicles. It seems like they try their luck with first pricing it high, and then when there are no takers, they reduce the price to what it should have been from day one.

However, most customers are now aware of this and hence tend not to buy Hyundai's bigger cars as they are afraid that 6 months after they do, the prie will drop by a lakh or 2, and their resale would fall accordingly.

Just checked on www.edmunds.com. The price of entry level Sonata is $200 less than that of Accord. Incidentally, Sonata comes with more features. Relatively, in India Sonata is offered at a better price advantage. When lauched wasn't Sonata cheaper than Accord 2.4vtec by 1.5 lacs. Would another 50K put Sonata in advantage?
