I doubt TASS have the expertise to debug problems with Blue and Me.

Dealerships across manufacturer's generally just replace parts. There is very little diagnosis and repair that's carried out nowadays.

Fiat can crow all it wants about its Blue and Me bluetooth feature in the Punto and Linea but the authorities are not impressed.

The view from above is that talking on the mobile phone, hands-free or not, is illegal.
Which brings us to psmith's question...

If the authorities wake up to B&M now or later and decide to declare it illegal, this could potentially inconvenience the existing B&M owners.
From their side, Fiat should also clarify the situation for the buyers.

The Fiat website says that Blue and Me can:
  1. Make and receive calls
  2. Read out incoming text messages aloud
  3. Play music (presumably stored on the phone)

So even if [1] is illegal, it could still be used for [2] and [3]. Although I would say half its use is gone if the main function cannot be used.

I wonder what Merc, Beemer and Audi owners will do.

Fiat owners are still safe.

Yes I was reading that earlier. basically the Blue and me is not working. the system is dead. its been almost 20 days and Concorde Motors, Dairy Circle told me that Fiat will send a new Blue and me unit from Italy. yesterday I got a call from my service adviser and he told me that Fiat has shipped wrong Blue and me Unit. looks like I have to wait another 20 days. he request me not to send any email to fiat

Is it only me affect by the B&M flu?

Why would they say that? I suspect that something went wrong at their end. I would suggest sending a mail to Fiat stating the scenario.

Its possible that some one jumped the line and got YOUR unit.

BBlost what are the chances of sending a *wrong* Blue & Me? what do they mean by wrong B&M? As far as I understand it works the same in both Linea & Punto.

Also 20 days aint not so less that they have had to jump the line to get a part.

Exactly my point. Wrong unit delivered does not make sense.

20 days.. for some 20 mins is too long a wait.

I just hope our friend here is not being taken on a ride and made to wait.

Yes the "Fiat sent a wrong Blue&Me unit" is totally weird It's sad that dealers blame the manufacturer to hide their own faults and since it's Fiat, most of the times they get away with it.

There is no wrong Blue&Me unit. I don't think there is any difference in the B&M unit avaliable in a Euro GP and an Indian one. I also wonder why Fiat would ship one from Italy, they could get one from Turkey or Brazil too.

Can we have a repository of the phones available in India that are compatible with B&M? The list from fiatforum.com doesn't contain many of the models available in India.

Ok, I have a dual sim Chinese clone of the iPhone (Schiphone i68+) and here are the details:

What works:
- Automatic pairing (no need to pair the phone everytime)
- Incoming calls on SIM1 (with SIM2, the call always gets dropped immediately after connection)
- Automatic phonebook download
- Caller ID

What doesn't work:
- Message reader

Works, but not 100%:
- Outgoing calls: I store my contacts' numbers as +91xxxxxxxxxx, whereas B&M dials the number (when I say CALL <person's name>) as 91xxxxxxxxxx, leaving out the + sign and hence the call does not go through. So in order to make call, I have to say DIAL <person's number> which is a pain)

Friends, please update this thread with your phone's experience with B&M.

I was curios why FIAT decided to call the top end variant as Emotion Pack and not just Emotion. External badging remains same for Emotion and Emotion Pack.

The main addition to Emotion Pack is airbags and B&M. They could have easily made Emotion as the top variant with airbags and B&M and the call the current Emotion variants as Dynamic. May be the concerns over legality of B&M made them play it safe and offer B&M as an optional pack over the top variant. In worst case, if government decides to ban the B&M and similar devices, FIAT can simply discontinue the Emotion Pack variant and add airbags to the Emotion as option, keeping the 'Emotion' badging intact.
