I don't think there has be any cut in hybrid duty import duty. If there was it would be all over the papers and I'd be ordering a thirsty hybrid SUV for the price of a CRV
My hunch is they want to get rid of stock so they can relaunch the facelifted hybrid at price levels of the accord.
Does the hybrid have paddle shifters too? A quick google search showed that the hybrid civics performance figures atleast 0 to 100 is at par with the auto 1.8 civic!

Folks, here's my question. We all have done detailed math on the running costs of diesel and the break even point and all that. Civic Hybrids was never even considered to be a in such discussions because with 20L+ there was no real point.

Now that its looking reasonable - do we have any idea on the mileage of Civic hybrid in City (where it makes most sense)?

Just cant understand how Honda will justify that price to its existing Hybrid customers?Imagine the plight of those who have already brought it for 21L(Was it ??).

it,s a great buy at 15 lakh. I guess it,s just stock clearance and not some limited period offer. Guess honda has realized that indians aren't ready to say 20 lakh for a similar car, only to be provided with a hybrid engine

There is no news anywhere of any cut in import duty of hybrids so let's stop trying to justify the price cut. A google on the same throws up an article dated March 3, 2008 on excise cut on hybrids from 24 to 14%. Nothing after that date.

If GM did this we would have gone ballastic but if Honda does it we try to justify it!

Secondly, if there is a import rate cut then this wouldn't be a "Limited period offer."

Lastly, the Civic hybrid is imported so Honda can easily import cars based on orders in hand so I don't think it's about clearing stocks either.

If they have unsold stock they can ship them back (provided it's economcially viable) to countries where the hybrid sells well rather then selling them here at loss and taking the risk of tarnishing the haloed H brand isnt it?

Point is if there is no rate cut and Honda is now selling the car at almost Rs.8 lacs lower then the original price and obviously still making money then imagine the super profit margin Honda kept for itself!

So what this means is that all their talk about environment friendliness and environment care was BS!

I got interested in this thread and currently in the market scouting for a car in the similar budget. When did search for more info on this car- honda website is down so had to rely on other forums. I find this car not so thrilling and good for long highway drives. It seems to be more suitable for city drives as it has very less power and lower top speed compared to 1.8 Civic , Corolla or Laura.

Of course only thing I find useful is FE .

Please, let me know if you all think on the same lines or otherwise.

Hi,

Is this news confirmed?

I called up Deccan Honda and they have no idea about this!

I would have placed my order right away, but they said ex-showroom is Rs.20 lacks something....same as it was when launched...

Please let me know the authenticity of this thread.

I tried the Honda website to check and seems like it had gone off line!

@AnandPadhye - seems like, as always, the sales people are always the last to know about any news about the product they sell!!!

Well...that's great.
What a perfect time for my stock market investment to vanish...
It appears I could have bought the Hybrid for 20 lacks 3 months ago, if I could buy it for 13 today...you know what I mean :-)

One of my close friend is planning for a Saloon in Jan. He is confused whether to go for Altis or Civic. I had adviced him for Altis as it the next generation model.

What's ex-showroom price for Pune ?

In addition to the regular Civic, you also get steering mounted audio controls and a rear lip spoiler.

If I'm not mistaken, leather interiors sweeten the package all the more.
you also get 4 airbags instead of 2!!!
