Default When will Tata launch Indica Vista 1.5 NA diesel?

If I remember, at the early stages of design, Mr. Tushky, our ace spy photographer, took a spy photo of the vista's dashboard which was titled as 1.5 NA diesel.

till now, Tata has launched only Tdi, quadrajet and safire varients.

any idea on when this model will hit the market?
will it be launched as a replacement at a lower price for the current indica V2, if it ever gets phased out?

Unlikely now, especially since there's an excise benefit for engines below 1500cc.

whats the point of reintroducing the NA engine in Vista? anyway, the V2 variants with NA engine are still being sold (Indicab, DLS, DL)

i bet the sticker was a red herring to throw spies off track somewhat like those ridiculous cloth covers the test cars wear while being driven outside. maybe at that time they didnt want anyone to know what engine options were available in Vista.

The exact measurement NA 1.5 would probably be something like 1496 CC. Hence it should be eligible for the excise benefit.

Ya, probably but then wouldnt it almost be the same as the current 1405 cc engine in the V2 ?

Isn't the cubic capacity of Xeta 1.4 and Dicor 1.4 1396CC? That's even closer to 1405CC.

NA's capacity might have been capped at 1.5 precisely to avail the excise benefit.

Think like this.
1.5 ltr diesel @ 50 bhp/ltr specific output will give around 75 bhp. In line with the present Fiat diesel.
Overlapping is then inevitable. May be this is the reason why they are not comping up with 1.5 NA.

And now that this version i.e. Vista is not allowed for tourist passing ( read in another thread ) the taxi market for this car will be difficult to build, so they are not interested in 1.5 NA.

However, I was thinking that Tata should come out with around 100 bhp diesel with 1.5 VGT.

1.5NA is Naturally Aspirated, so there's no turbo.
It probably develops 58 or so HP @ 5000 RPM compared to 1.4NA's 53.5 at the same RPM.

So there'd be no overlapping with Fiat powerplant.

With people getting used to the refinement and power of the Fiat diesel, launching Vista with 1.4 NA would be a retrograde step and probably that's why Tata decided against it.

But it would be a good idea to replace the 1.4NA with 1.5NA in Indicabs.

My mistake. Apology. But I know NA.

Thanks! I tried edititng and when I did for the first time, I removed the word turbo, but fixed geometry remained. Its my mistake. My mind was very much engaged in 1.5 VGT motor in Vista.

IN another thread, it is mentioned that Vista must not be cleared with tourist passing. And that is the reason why some models of older Indica remian on sale. Those will be for taxi market. And vista is for private ownership. So there is no point in bringing in 1.5 Narutally Aspirated engine.

I think with two decent Diesel engine options in its range, another 1.5 diesel will be a misfit. Why would one go for a NA diesel engine in this day and age.

The Vista I believe is doing decent numbers in the diesel segment. What Tata really needs is a 1.5 petrol.

Current 1.3 MJD has a fixed geometry turbo, @greenhorn is talking about a variable geometry turbo (one that should be seen soon on the Linea), now a Peted 1.3 MJD VGT should be like the current Getz CRDI

@greenhorn: I think Tata will play the price game and will equip the Vista saloon with only the fixed geometry turbo so that the Linea gets some breathing space
