I have booked a Swift VDi and i am waiting for the delivery(booked on 27th March) but this news is really making be confused. I know the car would be cheaper then the Swift but how would be the build quality as compared to Swift as i already know that Swift is a rattling monster. Also i am not a big fan of the retro rev meter in the splash along with the high mounted gear shift(In fall i find Swift's inetrior much much better) but what i am a big fan off is the power of the DDiS and all i know is that the Ritz/Splash would be lighter then the Swift so it would definately be faster and would be peppier then the Swift.

I hate the rear of Ritz/Splash but overall it looks nice, will have to wait to see it in person
+1. Rear looks as some truck has smashed it from back.
Front looks good though.
Any idea about the prices?

I was hoping that Ritz would be a segment higher than Swift, to compete with i20. I like Swift-D but I hate its interiors & waiting period, so was looking forward to Ritz, but I am disappointed with its positioning.

Waiting for GP now...or I'll buy Linea if I manage to save enough in next 2-3 months and if Fiat doesn't increase Linea's price again.

I don't think Maruti Suzuki will have a hatch at price segment higher than the Swift. Indian market will find a 7 lakh hatch extremely hard to digest, and Maruti knows it better than anyone else!

If Maruti can change the specifications of engines according to Indian conditions (original Splash has a 1247CC engine, and Maruti made it 1197CC for tax benefits), why can't they change the dimensions of the car also?

Because, cars in India enjoy tax benefit if the length is less than 4000mm, but most of Maruti hatch models have size in the range 3500mm to 3800mm. Why can't they increase the length so that people can enjoy the extra space without affecting the tax exemption?

If they make the length of Splash around 3990mm, and create ample legroom and boot space, it will be a super hit among Indians.

It doesnt look nice where the side profile ends at the rear end and also the rear profile. Similar to i10 but for some reason looks incomplete.

The rear is very European, like one of those renault or citroen hatches!

This is how the rear looks. Not as bad in the 'flesh' as it looks in the pictures if you ask me.

I had driven this model fairly extensively here and overall impression is positive. Its probably the same size as a Swift, but due to the upright stance, feels more spacious inside. Build quality, at least in the sample I drove was very good. I got the feeling of solidity that was somewhat reminiscent of the early Alto (2001/2 models).

I am very sure that in India, it wont be the case, how else can they make it cheaper?

Looks far better indeed. But then I sure hope we get the same standards in looks/ build quality etc in India. And definitely the tall stance would be a plus in terms of space.

In UK Ritz (Splash) is sold a price higher than Swift. So I guess in India also pricing structure will be similar. Due to its height advantage over Swift it offers more cabin space and that will justify higher pricing than swift. There is not much room for it to be positioned below Swift. Ritz will be pitted against i20 and soon to be launched Jazz.

I guess MUL has already stated that the price would be lower than the swift. Isn't it a Wagon R replacement? (if at all they stop the wagon R!)
