Surprise by Toyota - Plans To Launch Aygo Instead of Yaris - Team-BHP

Got a small information from trusted source that Toyota Yaris is not being launched in India.

The Toyota Aygo is being launched instead of Yaris in 2009 no idea which in which quarter of the year, isn't it this a good news.

Looks to be a winner and it make sense too, yaris is very old model and this one looks new and fresh. Indian small car market is very competetive and nothing other then the best will sell here.

By the looks of it, it seems to be in the same segment as A-Star. Toyota will have to price it very aggressively to be close to very other same segment cars are.

from the pic it doesnt look a hatchback with good space inside, like Vista, Fabia or U-VA. seems to be a better built i10.

True. Looks like a worthy competitor to the A-Star and the i10. If at all Toyota can dare launch at those prices.

The prices will sure make sense if you can ignore the "small" premium Toyota will charge for their brand image

Looks interesting indeed. Toyota has been extremely successful with all their launches in India this far, primarily because they have filled in a niche that was really vacant, for instance, theres really no alternative to the Innova in this price range even now. Lets hope their Aygo does as well and shakes up the premium hatchback segment a bit.

Looks a lil too flashy like Raj mentioned . IF they can plonk a 1.1 or 1.2 diesel to this . It will sell like hotcakes. Toyota are you listening ??

Honda would also keep a close eye on Yaris launch as its Jazz hatchback would be launched next year.

The design of the thermostat and air flow direction knobs is very funky. I like it!

No glove box, cigarette lighter/charging point or powered mirrors!
Steering mounted audio controls would have given it a good premium feel.
A-pillar may obstruct view while turning.
Also has a single wiper which seems to cover the entire windshield.

Boss, toyota has put on hold on all the capital investments in India and China. (Source: Today's TOI). Hoping this is out of their agenda...Otherwise, we can expcet a delay in launch program.
