2) There's no condition here saying a TD has to be done before the voting. Had it been - then ideally everyone should personally TD all cars listed here before voting. Which - i doubt will be probably a handful - if not at all.

Let me put an open question here - How many here have TD'ed the Audi A4, Captiva, Fiat 500 & new Accord?. If they haven't how can they know if its not a better car than the one they selected?

Folks - select the car you want. Respect others choice. I respect if someone else want to select A-star or Fiat 500 as the best car. Why should right do I, DCEite or anyone else have to question others judgment?

Ok lets for a moment assume that all those who voted have had unofficial test drive of the vehicle. I am using the word unofficial, since its not yet launched. But is that reason enough to vote it the car launch of the year ?

Moreover, thread title reads "Team-BHP New Car Launch of the Year 2008". Any sane person would easily interpret that statement easily, which refers to the cars launched in year 2008. When did Linea launch in 2008 ?

Why isn't TATA Nano and Suzuki Splash included in this poll?

If ACI made a mistake, why do we have to repeat the same?

Had the title of this thread been:
"You are a fanboy of which car?"

Then voting the Linea would have made some sense.

As of now, this poll is nothing but a poor joke.

Fiat Linea was booked by a BHPian on the 31st of December 2008. Did someone manage that with a Nano or the Splash! That someone need not be a BHPian. But is there someone who did that?

I am shocked by the language you have been using in general in this thread!

People have TDed and booked their Lineas. Others have seen the build quality and felt it deserved something and they did vote. Now calling them fanboys... Its sad when its coming from a Dist' BHPian!

I hope the mods wont turn a blind eye on this!

I have asked this question several times.

What do you believe is the criteria for anyone to vote in this poll ?

It is always easier to criticize the norms that people have used to vote but it would be good to know where do you stand on this ? How should one vote for this ?

Infact this poll is representative of how people behave in real world. People vote based on their perspective and perceptions and most of them vote emotionally and not rationally.

You missed the most important and the first step my friend:

1. Let the car launch.

Hilarious! Good one! Also, people who have voted for any other car than the Linea have done all this, then repeated the same process with all the other listed cars, submitted thier reports to our dear you-know-who, who inturn audited the reports, ofcourse with enough corroborative evidence, signed on it and then, they proceded to vote on this poll!

Those who voted for Linea might be the fans of ACI and not of Fiat Linea.

I think Overdrive car of the year is Fabia. So any Overdrive fans here?

I voted for Honda city.Linea might be a better product but we can only come to a verdict once the product is out.

Default My vote for Indica Vista

Voted for Indica Vista for the following reasons:
  • Space
  • Ride comfort
  • Great diesel engine (from Fiat - so part of the vote goes to Fiat's engine)
  • Evolutionary effort from Tata to carry forward the Indica
  • Already own an Indica Xeta Petrol 1.4, so my next car is very likely to be the Vista quadrajet

This thread is really funny and shows how stupid we can be.
When the Tata Fiat dealers and some of the company staff themselves declare that the Linea wasn't launched in 2008, we have to vote for the car as being the best launch in 2008.
Proper magach maari and nothing else!

Let's count out the votes of the Linea and declare the winner at the end of this poll. :
I guess Honda city will take it eventhough my vote is for Indica Vista!

Did anyone see this, Poll's header says something like this
"View Poll Results: Car of the Year 2009"

whereas the thread title says "Team-BHP New car launch of the Year 2008"
Its confusing.

One of the reason why people might have voted for Linea ( as abeerbagul said )
**Great diesel engine (from Fiat - which has already proven its worth)

how good a car Linea actually is, only time will tell, when we have more TDs and ownership reports (T-bhp and otherwise).
DECite,

Every car that's going to be launched at the fag end of the year will face the problem of lack of TD's and ownership reports. We barely have any reports of the i20 too. Even if Fiat had launched the Linea on it's scheduled date of Dec 15, we still wouldn't have had TD and ownership reports. How can we or auto mag's then judge if the car deserves to be the COTY?

We have 4 confirmed bookings of the Linea at team-bhp but from what I know not a single bhpian has bought the i20. Mind you, forum members are more aware that Fiat's weaknesses are Hyundai sterengths but somehow the Linea seems to have taken off better then the i20. Just an observation.
