From all the photos in first impression I liked the design of the new 7, but I'll have my final verdict only after seeing it in flesh.

It looks rather striking & handsome in the flesh. I think it's quite a nice design (but then I'm a self-confessed BMW fanboy! ).

Was there at the launch but sadly no drives because their Press car got damaged. Have been promised a drive pretty soon.

The more I see the 7, the more I love it! The design is modern yet packs to much appeal, since it is devoid of any quirkiness.

@ Maverick : The 7 invite is amongst the classiest I have seen till date.

Was at the launch on the 30th. The car does indeed look better in the metal than in pics! The rear looks good to my eyes. From the side, and D pillar back, the car looks like a grown-up 5. The front is the least attractive part, I still feel the kidney grills are WAY too big. It does look better than the last gen 7.

It is bristling with tech, and it is pretty damn spacious inside. Nice car. Probably wouldn't seriously consider buying one unless I was 70 though! :P

The BMW 7 was launched at the Four Seasons hotel on the 31st. The mean looking seven was parked, covered in a translucent car cover with the halo lights on, peering through the cover.

Parked next to it were, what took my breath away. Imported just for the unveiling were three gleaming cars straight from the BMW museum. A lovely gleaming dark blue 502, V-8. A cute pistachio green and white Isetta with a cane picnic basket perched o its boot and the bomb looking Tangerine orange 200tii.

The ivory interiors were outstanding and the four spoked, classic Porsche-esq steering wheel.

The ivory door lock.

Sorry thats all the pics i could take from my cell as it konked out after the last pic.

Prior to the unveiling there was a lovely fashion show which took you from the 30's to the present era. Very well done by Suneet Verma. The best of drinks and food was served.

Also on display alongside was the X-6. This looks like a direct launch against the Cayenne but SUVs never interested me if they are not pure Buch!!

I simply love the new 7, it is the only BMW design that I like from the last couple of launches (including the bangled ex-7, current E60 & 3 series). In fact, to say that I love the new 7 is an understatement. Way to go, BMW! Almost like BMW showed Mercedes what NOT to do (new S with the hump on the boot, droopy butt) and then did the right thing anyways.

We can only imagine what a pure white / black with black tints will look like on our roads. The understated charisma of the 80's & 90's is back!

was at the launch on Saturday night. Arrived late so missed the fashion show but I had enough eye candy for my eyes with the 7 and X6.
I had seen the new 7 at the Paris motor but in the short wheel base. The one at the show was the lwb with oodles of space. The iDrive is a whole new world, far better than the current. Most of the invitees were current 7 series owner, overheard several planning to upgrade. The x6 didn't get half as much attension.
Spoke with some of the german and Indian Bmw staff and expressed my dismay with run flats being offered now even on the 7. But as always it's a never ending arguement of safety vs comfort.
All in all a grand affair. Premium booze and food. And some PYTs

Looks like they finally got it right with the 7.

My only complaint is the bland looking taillamp. Its just a large expanse of red. They could have done a white-red LED combo like the 5 series. Aftermarket..knock-knock.

Here are some of the photos snapped by one of my best friend who was there for the launch as he is was invited being the largest individual buyer of Beemer in Kerala. He is also going for the new 7 too, not the 750Li, but 730Ld.

Even though its styling still contravertial, I liked it in photos. So I hope it'll be more appealing in flesh.

Dude, I totally disagree with your statement. If you are going to say that Merc has copied the raised boot lid design from BMW, then I humbly state that its wrong. The first raised boot lid on a sedan/limo was appeared in the Mercedes-Maybach concept which was revealed in 1996 Tokyo Motor Show. But it was only in 2002 Chris Bangle came up with so called 'Bangle Butt' on the 7-series. So is it the Merc copied the BMW or is it BMW copied the Merc.
