Its not a complete package, but what it lacks can be made up for by spending a lil bit, in due course. But Linea and City are fundamentally lacking essential things like drivetrain, space, quality of materials, etc. City E now has better tyre covers (than before) and barring climate control everything can be added aftermarket in due course. Ok no fogs, no side view mirror mounted indicators, two less tweeters, no leather, no alloys.... still you end up saving close to 2 lakhs over Civic V and these features can be added in due course. Just my opinion, you dont have to agree with it.

By adding on all the missing features you still save 2 lacs? Else, what's the point of saying its a complete package? I think its highway robbery in the first place to launch a car like a Civic in that segment with basic stuff like Alloys & Climate Control missing.

(Of course its your opinion & I know I don't have to agree to it)

The thing is leather may not be a requirement for everyone. You could be fine decent quality non leather seat covers. I am ok with no fog lamps too, just like Civic S. Alloys can be added in due course (based on budget and taste). Climate control is not a deal breaker in my opinion. Civic E anyday over Linea or City for me, as in my opinion, as in I know its not your opinion, as in you /= me

very nice review bro...
my 2 cents...
went and test drove the linea after i got to know its 7.5 lakh for the petrol and 9 for the diesel.

This review was of the diesel...drive the petrol and the engine rating will cum down to negative sumthing.

It was a total slug.the 1.4 litra 90bhp engine feels like a very smooth maruti 800.

brakes and comfort and all that jazz was great along with the outstanding looks..but my god my beautiful accent tornado worth half that much now would smoke the living daylights out of it..i sat bak in my car feeling very proud...

Default ANHC E and S variant

Hey Guys,

If I compare the variants within the ANHC offering then

Mumbai Ex Showrrom
E MT- 7,95,100
S MT- 8,46,900
Diff: - 51,800

E Variant does not have
The new Music System,
No Beige,but Grey interiors
No music controls on steering wheels
No body coloured door handles & mirrors.

Is it worth saving this money?

Please advise..

Is that all the difference? Does E variant come with driver seat height adjustment and tilt steering etc?

1. Driver height adjustment. ( I think its imp, as I felt it was a good position when i raised the deat in my short TD)
2. Keyless Entry with answer back (Can this be retro fitted ??)
3. Center console high armrest (Can this be retro fitted ??)
4. Seat back pocket (passenger side) (Will put seat covers, which will have them)
5. Rear center armrest with cup holder (Not imp as I will be driving..No Driver)

Hi Ash, from most of the things you listed, i think important ones are,

The new Music System, (one can fit from aftermarket)

music controls on steering wheels (very good luxury feature-definitely gonna miss)

Beige interiors (ANHC interiors are horrible compare to NHC ZX, so, gray/beige doesn't matter, not like NHC ZX-beige is must)

body colored door handles & mirrors. (go for a black colored! you get body colored door handles, mirrors & bumpers)

Front & Rear center armrest (good luxury feature-definitely gonna miss)

Keyless Entry (one can fit from aftermarket)

So, basically get a good ICE & central looking from after market (it will cost around 15-20K - depend upon ICE you choose).

Best of luck)

the best way is wait for 2 years, you will get every features from Honda (free of course) include a nice alloys & fog lamps.

I think it is worth it if you do not have that extra 50,000 to spend at this time and you do not want to wait for 2-3 months to add tht 50 grand. I would personally prefer E variant as i can always add steering mounted control and music system and then add alloys as well in that 50,000 :P and about body colored door handles and mirrors, get black color and problem solved. I personally do not prefer beige interior hence i would never go for Smt but thats me and yea you certainly dont have to agree with me :P

Wink Non linear

Guyz, prima facie it looks that it is not at all going to be an easy prediction.

SWOT for Linea

(+)
  • Good build, nice stance on road
  • Bigger, longer car for less
  • Although minimal, but good heritage from Palio/Uno
  • Better economy due to diesel(cheap and marginally better mileage)
  • Some good features (mobile connectivity ?)
(-)
  • TATA's sales network not excited much about selling Fiats
  • Spare parts distribution network dicy
  • Low resale (at least it seems now)
  • Drab passenger cabin, low on quality
  • Bad WOM for Fiat
  • Low owner gratification

I have come to know that the Top end model is on waiting... but that may be because they are making less nos..

City

(+)
  • High, very high brand pull
  • Bulletproof, excellent model WOM
  • Perception of good mileage (I'm not sure with the latest model)
  • Brilliant build and quality
  • Good looks (subjective)
  • Good re sale
(-)
  • Overpriced (in my opinion, SX4 is at par with lesser price)
  • Power(thats why they call it City not highway!!)
  • Expensive fuel (some diesel cars give the same mileage)

Out and out, the comparison might look unfair for Fiat as they have to act against negative perception, bad WOM, rely on Tata sales network and parts availability issue (or perception).

Honda is having no issues like these...!
But ppl somehow, I feel that Fiat has always made great cars...
They make better engines, Swifts, Vistas, Dzires bloom on them...

I think Fiat is a special case and we should wait and watch Linea as the real battle is between perception and reality..

Comparing City to Linea is like comparing Sachin Tendulkar to a rookie batsmen just after debut . One has a proven track record with impeccable manners / high recall and an ability to reinvent every 3-4 yrs . Leaving aside the pros and cons give it some time rubber has just started hitting the road for Linea give it some more time to know .

thats right Sachin Tendulakar is old now needs to retire , an expensive non performing burden to the team.
Has to be replaced with fresh blood (Raina/Gautam/Sharma/Pathan)
