Thats steep! At that price range, i'd pic the 520d without a doubt.
Its better equipped, higher segment, equal or better performance and comes with the optional maintenance pack.

May be we are forgetting Inflation over 9 years.23 lakhs parked in a bank FD would have grown more then 45 lakh over a 9 year period. So in indexation terms the prices have come down not increased.

What M-Benz should do instead is offer a competitive 5 year service / warranty coverage (a la BMW). I agree with you here, a 5 year service/warranty coverage could let the cat among pigeons. The upkeep of German cars is a deterrent to many a potential owner. That is true, the upkeep is a major deal breaker with these cars.

I, for one, am looking for the availability of the New E class in the showrooms so that I can take a decision in terms of changing my existing E.

Rs. 70K more for any metallic colour other than white. Does anyone know why the left side door mirror is not convex?

With the price increase the additional feature added is Bi xenon headlamps. Previously they were only halogen's.

Also, there is a new trim launched in the C220 CDI, the Avant Garde. This was available only on the C230 but now it's available on the C220 CDI as well.
