Looks like a disguise, looks very much like the Fortuner but why would they want to cover it up?
now why would a fortuner have a MH plate where it would be carrying a KA plate. Mahindra's are coming up with a test track/proving ground around chennai (not sure in what phase it is in now). This car could be headed there Its all possible.

The tires are JK Elanzo's. One more thing i forgot to add, i saw this vehicle moving away from the toll booth when i was approaching it(toll booth), and then it picked up speed like crazy and zoomed off, i quickly paid the toll and set off to catch a good pic but i could only do so when it(test mule) came to a halt near that scorpio.

The test mule must have done at least 120kmph, because i had to do around 105 just to keep it(test mule) in my sight. If the test car had not stopped i could have not clicked clear pics at all.

If this huge car is indeed a Mahindra, what is going to power it? A Navistar engine?

The one in the pic seems to be wider than a fortuner.

this and other photos are taken by me, while shooting for new scorpio advertisment in Dubai.

check the facelift scorpio thread in this forum.

M&M tying up with SSangyong of Korea to bring ot produce Rexton to india. this test mule matches Rexton's profile!

but i think M&M can afford to design and make its Big cars rather than tie up some korean company!

i know in early days M&M wanted to introduce Rexton as a higher model than scorpio.

anyway lets see what beauty lies underneath those black overalls!

Looks like a Mahindra to me...look at the pattern of the steel wheels...i think its the same as the base version of the Scorpio/Xylo...standing in the background!! the OVRMs are all new..chromed with built in LED indicators.like on the current Endeavour

going by the fetish of indians for SUV's, looks like mahindra has another winner on hands after the incredibly practical Xylo.
kudos.

I remembered reading that the Rexton deal was dropped and Mahindra decided to go with an in house design. From various responses, I think it is the next gen 2010 SUV from Mahindra.

This deffinately seems like an SUV from M&M the big gap in front seems to have similar deigen like the new land cruiser. That is a very areodynamic SUV desgin the windscreen is way to inclined slopong to be a rextom. I like the greenhouse silhoute it deffinately looks like a grand cherrokeeish sexy SUV. Nice and broad I hope it has a 3rd row, wish you could get a complete side pofile pics.

Guys this is an unadulterated new Mahindra! No S'yong involved.

This came from a 1000% reliable source. And im afraid I wont be able to share anything else.
So please throwout the S'yong possibilities.

EXTERMINATOR ?? .. Exterminate the competition!?!

I have always wished they'd come up with something which was at least 6" wider, longer and taller than the current Scorpio.

I am definitely going to be following this with great interest!
