One of my biggest concerns with the bright yellow SUV spotting is that given that the horrendous yellow color (earlier seen on the Scorpio) exists for the new SUV, the aesthetics and design of the SUV could also be in the same hands who gave us the funny front of one of the scorpio facelifts and have been known to go around town painting anything and everything in a vehicle bright red and yellow as seen on various MM "customization" concoctions. I hope better sense prevails.

All I will say right now is that this new W201 promises to be an excellent effort from M&M. Should be well worth waiting for, as a natural upgrade to the next level from the Scorpio/Safari breed.

The W201, seems to be one proper effort from M&M. This is M&Ms best shot of the luxury SUV space. W201 is for M&M, what the Aria was for the TATA. An image changer. But hopefully M&M wont price it as optimistically.

Do find some resemblance with Outlander ?
Anyway it looks great. Projector headlights and profile looks gives it a chunky SUV looks.
Hope they won't pricing won't be chunky.

from the pictures posted here, the vehicle is nearer the Captiva in overall size. some elements can be seen to be mitsubishi inspired too.

I spoke to my sources in Mahindra and have the following info

The model is to be named Wester ( Hence W201 )
Currently undergoing final fuel pump checks in Mico BOSCH Bangalore plant ( Hence we are seeing the test mules around Bangalore )
Launch slated in November 2011
Three models to be available starting 18Lakhs and up to 25 Lakhs ( Competing with Fortuner )
Will be a optional 4 Wheel drive and not like fortuner on a all 4 wheel drive
Surely going to be a 3 Ltr engine and not 2.2L
So all those who are looking for the W201 , may have to wait .......

If it doesn't give good mileage, it will be called "Fuel Waster" country-wide.

Keep that in mind.

I will make an informed statement here and now that some of the below points e.g.the likely name and price etc are pure speculation - no disrespect meant to you or your sources. All that I will add right now is that this vehicle is by far the best one from the M&M stable and will be quite well worth waiting for when it comes through.

That speculated price might put off a lot of potential buyers who were looking to upgrade from their Scorpios! A price range of 13-15L would have fetched M&M a lot more buyers than it would now :(
