Does Autocar own it or is it a press car from Skoda? Is this the first time an Indian auto magazine has given a negative review of Skoda's service?

Probably one of those long-term test cars.

It's in the section called "Our Cars" with the headline, "The Laura's abilities astound us, while Skoda's service woes confound us" - maybe a long term test car.

@Dose, Bijoy of BS Motoring also critiqued Skoda for its A*S*S multiple times, one I could retrieve is here At your service

Was the Skoda Laura, at 10k the check oil light came on, the car was sent to the dealer, dealer overfilled oil resulting in white smoke from the engine and loss of power (oil entering the combustion chamber).

Again the car was sent to the dealer to remove the excess oil, the dealer ended up spilling petrol in the car (upholstery/carpet) which gave off a stink.

Petrol stink is a bit nauseous.

Cheers

Yup, I have the issue in my hands. Something about doing a long drive, highlighting the cruising/grand-touring capabilities of the car I believe.

Pathetic, is all i can say about SKODA.
BAD Dealers, BAD Policies, BAD Customer Service, Bad Marketing.

I really do not understand what skoda is trying to deliver. I had been to a dealer here in Coimbatore to book a Laura. They did not have a car to show me , leave the TD.
Finally, after a month they turned up with a car. And i did book one of them.

two days later, they came up with problems like non availability of the variant in that color and then non availability of the variant itself. after which i had to take a final call and quit purchasing the car.

When i see this thread, i am happy i dint have to go through this after i got the car and its better i quit at it ahead.

Harish, I really appreciate your fight for justice. And i hope you get out of this mess soon.

good luck !

Default District Consumer Forum hearing update

Skoda lawyer absent.

Nummer Eins lawyer absent.

At the last hearing they were given a last chance to file a reply to my amended application.

Since they didn't the Honourable Judge accepted my amended application.

Next date 29th Jan 2010.

@harishv: Write to ministry of consumer affairs. Just stick to the point about case getting delayed when consumer courts are supposed to give judgement in 90 days. Here is link :: Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food&Public Distribution :: Governmant of India

Looks like instead of keeping consumer interest and interest of company Skoda is just interested in harassing the owners. After seeing this thread i dont know if any people can dare to buy from Skoda or its parent companies car VW.

I never heard a company or dealer can come down to such low levels.

AFAIK, ACI has always mentioned a small rider in their reviews of skoda about the A*S*S. They are now being very clear about it in their latest issue. Overfilling of oil in a modern service station??? A very basic unforgivable mistake and one that can cause quite a bit of long term engine damage as well.

All the best Harish - the wait is slow and trying. In any case Skoda is now a tiny entity in the Indian Auto market with less than 1% share yet to catch up on the target they were supposed to reach I think in 2007 of 25,000 cars annually.

(domain-b.com : Skoda to launch new Octavia next year)

Sometimes justice gets delivered in unforeseen ways.

Cheers,
