Default Best Suited Car For The Indian Politician

Politician bashing is an evergreen activity. However as the saying goes we get the politicians that we deserve and lets just spare a thought as to what would be the "Best Suited Car For The Indian Politician".

I must confess that the "inspiration" to start the present thread was the following article:

Rahul Gandhi's assets Rs 2.25 crore, he doesn't own a car- Politics/Nation-News-The Economic Times

I have given a list of 15 vehicles (in the poll) and have deliberately kept out hatches and vehicles beyond 10 lakhs keeping in mind that India is a developing country and the term "Indian Politician" would cover people from a wide range of economic backgrounds. I am aware that many may not agree with this slab of 10 lakhs as this would keep may vehicles out of the zone of consideration; Maybe we can have a separate thread for that. Thus we can't have the Civics, Corollas, CRVs, Endeavours, Jettas, BMWs and Mercs in the list.

Even though the list contains a wide range of vehicles, it may be very difficult to select any one vehicle for the "Indian Politician".

I do agree that the wide range of vehicles given in the list (for the poll) makes things difficult (to compare), but I had to give them to bring the maximum possible cars in the zone of consideration. However one can nominate his own cars which are not there in the list.

Happy voting!

I know I know! The best suited travelling mode would be the Rickshaw.
Atleast that will give them an idea about the reality that is prevalent unlike the airconditioned bubble that they live in.

I dont know about giving them cars. But their Landcruisers and Lexuses must be definitely confiscated. All of us taxpayers have contributed for them. It's our money

I dont understand why politicians are hated so much . There are so many other people ,for example businessmen who dont pay taxes , who evade duties , civil servants who take bribe , and the people who bribe or evade taxes are the first who should be prosecuted .

Another point is if politicians didnt make money at all would they command the same respect ?

My preffered choice would be the ambassador

In India the understanding of politician is when he has enough to afford all the above cars, hence we needn't really decide for them. Here they were travelling by Amby's and now they've moved on to Importing Custom made cars and thanks to the younger generation in politics we see style and practicality making a statement. They atleast know an SUV will take em everywhere they want. In Tn,usually the scorp's are seen totting party leader photos and the like.I think an SUV gives them a Stance especially an Innova. When you see a poltician passing by and he can be seen its nice and you really can relate to them may they be a part of your constituency or city.

I m selecting Ambassador for them !! I dont know what they will select for themselves. I heard that Govt spends a lot of money for the transportation of the these people. I just wish they do some good to the citizens too.

Would be a good option. At least we ll get to see a lot of exotics then.

It doesnt really matter which car they buy, at the end of the day its being bought from the common man's money.

I've still voted for the Ambassador.

Give everybody a nano. Its tried and tested. If there are stability issues let them face the brunt first

The trusted Amby; because of the image, repair anywhere facility (for most of the models, at least), and arguably one of the best rear seat comfort. If you are smart enough, you could get the 1.8 petrol ambassador, and people would still be talking about your humility.

Amby, any day. No offence meant to HM. But we are so used to seeing them going around in Amby convoys. So, it's hard to associate another car with our beloved khadi-clad saviours. The Amby fits on a politician like his Gandhi cap, perfectly.

None of the above - I am seeing many of them in Prado or Land Cruisers these days.

There goes your Tax money.............

Btw I now have green colour sticker on the back of my car above the licence plate - "Ministry of Headless Chickens"
