For the first year or so, dont expect to find any base versions. Maruti will try to push as many top-end versions as possible because thats where they make their money.

I think there is talk of the base version being priced some where near 3.9. The base version for sure is going to have AC and BCB , Comon even the Wagon R LXI has them

I think there is a possibility of a price correction for the top end Wagon R making space for Swifts Base Model. If there is a price correction it would intresting to see how Hyundai is going to react as they have been under considerable pressure from Maruti and their Market Share has been slipping off late

I dont think swift will be priced too low, Otherwise, it will eat into Maruti's own WagonR and Zen sales. So I expect it to be priced around 4.5 Lakhs..

Around 4.25 for the very basic version (with a/c and power steering ) would be good I think....Add in power windows/stereo etc for about 4.75 as another version and a top-end with alloys/ABS/airbags etc at 5.5

My 0.02c...

Around Rs. 4 lakhs for the base version. 4.5 for the mid version and 5.0 for the top end version with ABS, EBD, airbags, the integrated CD stereo and the Baleno engine.

Well, the last item - Baleno engine - was wishful thinking, I'm afraid. But we can always dream... Please: Maruti, !!

If it is smaller than GETZ, I would think more than twice to pay 4.5 lakhs to a competitively spec'd Swift, I dont think it will be worth it..

Boot definitely is smaller and the car looks smaller as well..

See this review, where they compare the Swift with the Getz.

They say...
Quote:
The Swift is more than good enough to attack the pace-setting Toyota Echo and Hyundai Getz in the compact class.
and also...
Quote:
We also prefer the feel of the car, and that's everything from the seat fabrics to the steering, over rivals such as the Hyundai Getz and the ageing Echo. It could even face up well against baby-car pacesetters Mazda2 and Honda Jazz.
The Swift may be shorter than the Getz, but the difference isn't much. The Swift is nearly a foot wider, so three people can sit comfortably in the back, has more comfortable back seats (see the May issue of Autocar India) and is overall a much more refined and plush vehicle. It's also safer (4 stars in Euro NCAP) and will handle better (see Autocar India where they talk about the steering and gearchange).

There's good reason why so many of us are excited about the Swift.

Havent seen a Zen with black bumpers, and dont think they sell them in anymore too.

I doubt a premium hatch will ever be launched with non-colour bumpers. Cant even fathom what it would do to the "premium hatch" image

I'd prefer to wait till I see the vehicle in the flesh, though it does LOOK very cool. However, COLD logic sells more than COOL so it will have to appeal to the brain as well.

even GETZ has 4 stars in NCAP rating..

I test drove getz and was amazed by the space within. Need to check out swift before deciding the interior space..

BTW,

If I remember correctly, Maruti took the decision to replace black bum pers with body colour bumpers in Alto, WagonR and Zen.

even LX variants come with Body coloured bumpers now..
