A question about automatic AC control, does it help in reducing fuel consumption since compressor is switched on/off as needed, in manual AC it's on all the time ?

Yes Automatic Climate control help in reducing fuel consumption as the aircon compressor keeps switching on and off. In manual A/C's the temperature setting is set very very low and hence it takes a longer time to cut-off.

Default 13+ in city

hi all!!

i have done 14000 km in one year, 50% in city and 50 % highway, always calculating top up to top up method. in city i consistently get 13 to 13.5 kmpl, and on highways the beast has always returned 14.5 to 15 kmpl.
My two friends have the all new honda city and thier cars give them about 15 kmpl only in city as well as highways. i just love this car!!!

I get 10-12 KMPL in City. When I drove down to Channai from Bangalore, I got 14KMPL.(Highway) Travelling from Bangalore to ooty was less efficient- 8 KMPL. I think it was because of the hilly area.

And I think its true that mostly the complain about SX4's fuel efficiency come from the people who dont own it. Its some case of chinese whisper.

My SX-4 gives 10-11 in city with 100% A/C and recorded 15 kmpl during long drives with 100% A/C.

It has done 42,000 kms so far.

My SX4 Milage
In Bangalore city - 10.5-11.5 kmpl with AC in auto mode always

In long trips - 12.5 - 13 kmpl with AC in auto mode always ( Average speed 120 km/hr).

I'm not able to acheive 14 or 15 in highway. May it's because of the 3 digit speeds I constantly do. It's very difficult to drive below 100 in highways.

I consistently get between 9-10Kmpl. City driving and 100% AC on - SX4 Zxi. Also, wanted to know if there is any difference in mileage between Vxi & Zxi model.

Well!. I bought the car last August 09 Sx4 ZXi leather. Am happy with the car. Its sturdy, does not give a scare at sudden swerves or brake at high speeds, on the contrary completely hides the speed from the passengers inside. FE is very good at 14+ km to liter of petrol on my daily drive from Delhi Dwarka to Gurgaon with AC on, but at speeds not above 80 kmph, and around 13.8 kmph on highway. Driven to ajmer from Delhi twice at speeds averaging 100 kmph with highest speed at 153 kmph at one point of time. The best thing aout the car is that at that speed no body got alarmed as they were blissfully unaware of the speed, including me (the driver) when I had to hit the brake pedal pretty hard to stop in time due to traffice pile in front (Mostly trucks). The car obeyed my barking comand and stayed firmly entrenched on the road. A fantastic plus for the car I think.

PS This post is inspired by actual driving and not by "My car syndrome effect"

The first mileage figures for my new SX4 VVT VXI: The first 466 kms straight from the showroom at Ranchi to Calcutta gave a mileage of 16 Kmpl (Tank full method, regular petrol, 100% AC, all highway driving, max rpm 3000).
