Is it that the Alto we have now was a later version of the Indian Zen? Why have we been paying more for the Zen in that case?

Default WOW!! Nice compilation!

Really an interesting read. But coming to thik of it Maruti has done a "extraordinary" job in packaging and serving us 3 Generations of the same model at the same time for the last so many years!!!!

even people use it as a rally car.

Looks like the Alto is really popular in the Netherlands.
In the 2nd picture of the car in the parking lot you can see the tail lights
of another Alto (the one currently sold in India) parked right behind it.

the very interesting version of the alto i found was the Alto Works, the WICKED ALTO WORKS. aka the Turbocharged Alto

"Suzuki cracked 64ps in their Kei car by employing all of the whiz-bang technology available at the time. The Alto Works uses a tiny IHI turbocharger with a top-mount air-to-air intercooler, a DOHC alloy head with four valves per cylinder plus electronic multipoint fuel injection. With a bore and stoke of 65 x 55mm, the F5A 543cc three-cylinder may lack capacity but it has no problems kicking out almost as much power as, say, the 1.0-litre carby turbo Daihatsu Charade. With 47kW at 7500 rpm and 72Nm at 4000 rpm, the hot little Suzuki set a new benchmark for Kei class performance. And fun."

article: Browser Warning

i wish they bring back the turbo in their current generation alto and it will drive away every other small car out of the market

Great information. I really liked the 2009 version which is specifically for Japan. Wish this could be seen burning wheels on Indian roads too. Thisone secially looks too good from the rear end.

Nice thread. The most selling car in India needs one, would be better if we add the Ads of each gen here as well.

Fabulous article Frank. Never knew that alto started as early as late sixties. Usually cars become bigger by generations(like civic/corolla). But Alto stood its ground as far as the size of the car goes.
