| BHPian | Hi Guys, I sold my TVS Fiero F2 to a person on October 24 2010 and i've haven't still received the Transfer certificate from him after 2 months or so. I have lost the contact number of him and i don't know where he lives!. What should i do now? Please help. SMS to the RTO regarding vehicle details and found its still registered in my mom's name (which it was before). Thanks, Ramki |

| BHPian | Although I cannot answer your question, don't go by what details of ownership you get on the RTO website, I can vouch that they are not very accurate ! My Esteem was transferred to me way back in 2002 but the site still gives out the original owners name ! Going by others' feedback though, guess the updates are pretty accurate for vehicles registered 2009 onwards ! |

| It seems to work only for a few RTOs. It works for my old car (KA-05), which I had sold about 6 months back, still shows my name though! Doesn't work for my new car (KA-51). |

- Chain snatching? Robbery? - Or if he meets with an accident which involves death of a person? He can easily escape saying that you have done signature forgery on delivery note. Atleast you are in safer side to begin with by giving a complaint. Do you have his DL xerox or any ID proof? These days signature forgery is common. | |

| Senior - BHPian | Searched all the pages but I didn't find a way to get details of a car registered in KA-51 RTO. Is there a website where I can look up for KA-51 vehicles? |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | The data seems to be old, not updated with newer registrations or re-registrations. So not likely that you will find details of KA-51 registrations |

| The database is pretty old and its not getting updated i guess. Tried with my 4 month old KA-05 registered car. Got a reply saying that the number was wrong. ![]() |

| Is there a way to check ownership details either online or offline? I have changed the ownership of my vehicle, but the SMS check still shows the old owner name. I primarily want to ensure that the smart card I received from the agent is not fake! |

| BHPian | Cool! Now Kerala RTO has also begun sending vehicle details through SMS. Pretty fast and accurate. Costs only Rs. 2/- from BSNL and 3/- from other networks. There are a host of other features too, including Application Status – Permit (STA), Allotted Number, Vehicle Number Booking Status, Vehicle Tax, Vehicle Number Booking Range, etc. Here goes the link - http://www.keralamvd.gov.in/images/m...smsdetails.pdf |

| hi All, I need to know where i can get information about a vehicle(car) accurately, short of actually visiting the RTO i mean. I am from Bangalore. I am interested in a used car, but when i plugged in the details of the vehicle into the RTO site and the vahan.nic site, i got conflicting results. Both are government sites. Site addresses given below. For the car i am looking at; the RTO site shows it registered to some other owner and some other make of car, whereas the vahan.nic shows all the details accurately as per the VIN and registration numbers on the car; though its gotten the cc and num of cyl wrong. I crossed checked by plugging in my brothers car number and the RTO site showed it correctly whereas the vahan.nic site said no such vehicle found. Funnily enough, the vahan site is a direct link from the bangalore RTO website, but my computer issued me a warning before opening the site. ![]() I tried sending an sms to the rto as suggested in one of the threads, but i get no response. Does anyone have any idea how i can get proper and accurate details of a vehicle? ![]() the site addresses- BTIS - Bangalore Transport Information System https://vahan.nic.in/nrservices/faces/welcome.jsp P.S- Modertors, i was not sure where to put this query. So please move it to an appropriate forum if it needs to be. thanks Last edited by stormsearcher : 10th April 2012 at 00:27. |
