Autocar India carried a supplement to their magazine containing the Ikon cross country drive reports.
For a glance: :: AUTOCAR INDIA - CAR AND BIKE MAGAZINE ::

Surprisingly most of the drivers were very young. May be autocar hoped for a bit of Roadies!

Gilead : I wonder how long they debated and deliberated before coming up with iKool.
the iKon was no Con. The iKool (name) aint Kool either.

Seriously, the name iKool sounds like a joke.

A wild guess by a long shot but is this the beginning of IKON phaseout and Fiesta repositioning?

I loved the car for its performance during my engineering days. It was never a good looker in my opinion and if they continue to stick to the same model then they arent going to get much sales. How about some upgraded looks or a completely new model altogether. Its not as if Ford doesnt have enough models to choose from.

Looks like the success of products with "i" from the slanted "H" has made Ford management think that there must be something in the name. I can't think of any other reason why Ford used the name "ikool".

In my opinion Ikon will have to be discontinued or completely re-designed (just like Honda City)

Ford - poor marketing strategy.

I think it is about time they brought in more contemporary vehicles to India instead of trying to re-hash and push a 10 year old one down the marketplace's collective throat.

Worse, that 10 year old vehicle has been successfully and successively emasculated time and again - and yet, for some strange reason, they still expect it to sell?

This is the whole trouble with these hot-shot white-collared clod-heads sitting in their air-conditioned Ivory Towers and making Marketing Decisions based on a few half-witted ppts and excel sheets probably made by some poor under-manager who is under so much pressure to meet deadlines that it reflects in his quality of output - without even bothering to see what the great marketplace outside is asking for.

or else it could be a classic case of yet another market research agency pulling off a fast one at the expense of FORD!!

Silly chaps - wish they would bring in something new at least.

Welcome to Ford, fellas.
This is how they do it.
Apparently, a Ford escort in the UK had 182 versions.

Whats wrong with Ford ? Yes, the Ikon was a good car but how long do they want to keep flogging it ? Come on guys, you are the same people who have come up with the Fiesta 1.6S.You can surely do better.

I think Ford is unclear of its strategy ahead. Ikon is now turning to I Kaun?
