CNG Variant is applicable only at certain cities so has limited appeal whereas TDi variant, being diesel, has nationwide appeal.

though a bit late by tata to offer lowered price XL variant of indigo, its good with that price on offer for taxi operators and for personal use as well.Offers loads of space and if this TDi engine pulls the car effeciently with decent FE around 15-17 its a good deal.
Also like CS is this to clear up stocks of these vehicles and make room for new indigo vista, seems though.

@ theragingbull: One cannot have everything in given price. Does all of the car you are comparing have truly spacious legroom, rear AC, a chilled govebox or powered mirrors? There is no point comparing this way. Some will have this and some will have that for the given price.

--------

I feel XL TDi is good move by TATA. Why just taxi segment? Many private buyers will also rethink for it in 5-6 lacs bracket. Just like one BHPian laready said for himself. Or, if the normal Indigo is being phased out, this can take it's place. So why only white, Tata?

No. The TDI is TATA's own engine, which does the duty in the existing range of Indica/go family.

I havent had a ride in an XL till date but my brother hired an Indigo XL meru cab a couple of months back, and he found the rear legroom and seats excellent.
The XL TDI is a superb value proposition, typically Tata at what they do best.

I think Indigo XL is the worst looking car from outside, though good from inside. Good VFM for Taxis now

That's precisely why TATA is marketing the car in white only. To capture a good percentage of the taxi market.

Tata Indigo officially withdrawn?
Can somebody confirm this and provide a news link to the same because I can still see Tata Indigo at Tata Motors website.

or do you mean that they have withdrawn certain models (like what happened before Vista's launch, DLX and GLX were withdrawn)

All Standard models of Indigo Sedan (excluding Marina, XL, and CS) are no more in production. This has been a gradual movement with company stopping production some time back and stockyard vehicles finishing in the beginning of September.

As of Now, Indigo Sedan models are only being manufactured for Government sales on an as per order basis. IMHO, Company will probably wait till launch of new Indigo for official confirmation. Further, this provides dealers with old stock to clear over festive season.

Talking Re: India's very own limousine, now in TDi Avatar and a mouthwatering PRICE!!!

In its new avatar, DiCOR engine has been replaced with TDi engine bringing costs down to Rs. 5.28 L. This move by TATA MOTORS will lure Taxi Operators into a much more comfortable car, at the price levels of outgoing Indigo Sedan.

Timing of the launch also justifies the previous rumours that All New Indigo is just around the corner which is a good news.

IMHO, This product would be a great buy for Taxi Operators as well as customers looking for that extra space in the rear. Most probable deployment will be in Government Offices, maybe even replace the old-age warhorse Amby as minister's car.

Personally, This launch is important because it gives a glimpse about what is yet to come. New Indigo is expected to be targeted at private buyers and pricing of Indigo xL Tdi justify the assumption. Further, Private consumer focus would allow Tata to present car with much higher levels of refinement as has been reported by many people who have seen this car in flesh.

Some of the main features of this car are:
1. Best in Class rear leg-room : 2650mm
2. Powered Rear Windows
3. Rear AC Vents
4. Rear Power Outlet
5. Rear Arm Rests
6. 450 Litres of Boot Space.
7. Mouth Watering Price of only INR 5.28L
Don't know how much but my chest pains on reading the word "limousine" in association with this Indigo version. Sure I'm a big fan of Indigo and Tata, but is it okay to call an Indigo a limoh?! For an everyday Joe this may well sound as a joke on/by Tata. IMHO!
