I feel sad for people who shelled out their hard earned on Logan during the last few months. Its almost like the IPhone price cut (although not so drastic). This is going to leave a bad taste in the mouth for the existing Logan owners.

On the other hand the Petrol versions look pretty nicely priced now, but we still need to wait and see if these price cuts really do anything to Logan's sales. The news about their break up with Renault is not helping either. It's just hard to understand the logic behind M&M's action regarding Logan...

They are trying to break into the "car" territory in the Indian market and new they have gone and shot themselves in the foot!

Can anyone update the onroad prices in Bangalore for petrol & diesel versions? These cars now look fantastic value for money - M&M pulling out of JV would be a bummer, though.

Anyone with a bit of common sense would have anticipated that. However, M&M thought that beige interiors would make the car upmarket.

I agree...unless they have learnt everything they could from logan, there was no point in breaking the contract. They should have first designed, manufactured their own car with help from renault and then walked out of this deal.

But i dont expect much from a manufacturer who has not been able to solve the poor handling and braking of scorpio for so many years.

Folks,
Mahindra has not broken off the alliance with renault for the Logan Project. It was a different project where in Mahindra, Renault and Nissan were forming a JV to set up a car manufacturing unit near Chennai with a production capacity of 4 lakh cars per annum . This was to meet the requirements of all three manufacturers and the models to be produced here were different and a significant part of the production was to be exported.

With renault and Nissan having tie ups with almost every second manufacturers, it seems that Mahindra did not deem it proper to invest over Rs 2000 crores in this project.

Logan is no longer logging on with Indian consumers, as reflected in its decline from 2200-2300 pre Diwali to 1500 roundabouts now. Perhaps people are waiting for the hyped up Fabia which already is a has been product in the European market.

A person looking at the Logan would be interested in the fabia?

IMO, both are targetted (supposedly) at different buyers. Logan needs a price correction and has to take the Indigo head- on.

You'd be surprised. Alternatives within the same price range are strongly considered, irrespective of them being from a different class, engine or specifications.

This was ought to happen. But the decision has come a little late. M&M is in fear that lot of vehicles are being released in Q1 of 2008 and their sales will further dip.

That's correct. Mahindra has opted out from the Mahindra-Renault-Nissan tieup to setup a car plant near Chennai.

Mahindra-Renault is very much there.

Yea Mahindra-Renault is pretty much there on black & white.

But what this decision of pulling out of Renault-Nissan JV means to customers & all potential buyers of logan?

Does it rings a bell?

Once I had plans to buy logan & now I pulled-off. watch & wait game starts...

International sites of Logan is talking of a new upgraded Petrol 105 bhp and 85 bhp diesel and some facelift in international market . This should be good enough for Indian Market provided MR don't go into an overdrive to cheapofy an el - cheapo car

Any BHPians heard about the price cut in diesel versions?

There must be something impressive about this logan as it carries 5 awards.
