JayR,

I don't think there is any obsession with limited edition cars in our country. AFAIK, people choose practicality, availability of spares, easy service, etc. And this applies to the niche products that the super rich purchase. Why do you think the S-Class still sells like hot cakes despite the presence of the Audi A8? They're priced quite closely and are equipped with similar features too! People who buy such cars are guaranteed a certain level of exclusivity anyway and get added benefits such as good servicing and availability of spares. Even the rich prefer to own cars that don't bother them when they need to be pressed into service for the day. I know, it's just a mindset but that's how the Indian buyer thinks. I haven't seen any limited edition cars clicking in India however big the marque is IMO. I might be terribly wrong though!

Maybe this doesn't apply entirely to cars. But luxury studies have shown that many Indians recognise exclusivity, and are frequently a part of the club.

Anyways, last pics of the GT. Hope to get one on the road soon.

This week, On the Road...

It was a real pity I forgot my own camera, when I covered the hill climb in Bangalore (Nandi Hills). What a day it was...

JayR, I really need your opinion on this one!
The interiors on the 370 make it real tacky and plasticky IMO. Is it worth the 66 Lakhs price tag? How does it fare in comparo with its german rivals?

The 370 Z's interiors aren't all that tacky actually. It's got a got combination of suede leather, and some material that's been patented by Nissan. Plastic quality is also good IMO. It's not a far throw from the TT and Z4, in terms of quality. But the germans are obviously better. Had the 370Z been an Infiniti, maybe the three would have been on par.

After spending 9 hours with the car, I say it justifies its price tag, because the Z's lineage is something special. Immense fun around the corners, and a sharp looker! Also comes with an awesome Bose 8 speaker system. It's a pity that the auto box slows it down, during acceleration. But once it gets past the ton mark, this can easily outrun the TT.

We have to remember however, that taxes here, are higher than the rest of India. That's why the ex-showroom of 55 lakhs, escalates to 66 OTR.

Thanks JayR for your valuable insight! I obviously haven't spent 9 hours with the car like you but having seen it at a glance, I feel that it will be lost in the crowd if placed with its german counterparts. Just my 2 cents...
