About couple of days, I was returning from Bang. On the stretch between vellore and Kanchinpuram was doing a steady 140 on my Innova. A new face lifted white Versa overtook me with ease. I was first surprised, then tried to catch up, could only do so at 155 kmph. And a closer look i realized that it was not versa, but could not make out what car it was. Now, I know what over took me.

That makes it head-on with the upper variant of Innova. Going to get interesting.
No way it can be priced so high.If they are going to price so high then it will be a flop. They should price it from 6 - 8L which would be the correct price to get the min van/MVP. since Nissan is not established very well in Indian.

great news for the people mover/ higher end taxi segment
looks like the ideal vehicle for those trips to and from the airport- hotel with 4-5 people and their luggage and/ or those golfing trips out of town!

if priced around 10-12 it will be a good idea since it will compete nicely with the Innova - 15-16 is pushing it a bit.

From what I can Google, the NV200 is offered with a 1.5L diesel and 1.6L petrol

Geneva 2009: Nissan NV200 gets its tippy on — Autoblog

It would be optimistic to price it for anything more than 8 lakhs if they are serious about the Indian market, plus it is derived from Nissan's B-platform and in a country famous for overloading its cargo carriers, I wonder how its going to survive.

Anything over 10L and Nissan can save on their overheads outright. Around 8L I would say roll it on Baby.

Autocar has reported that Nissan foray into the minivan market in India will start with a passenger derivative of the compact NV200. This will be the first product to be made through Nissanís joint venture with Ashok Leyland.

A Target Price of 8 Lakhs when it goes in sale in 2011.

There are bringing it as part of their join venture with AL. Might well bring down the production costs.

"Almost as long as a Toyota Innova, and much taller, the NV200 or X11M as it is internally known, will be powered by a version of the Renault Logan's 1.5 DCI diesel (which Nissan calls the K9K), with an increase of 85 horsepower. Nissan will use the greater efficiency of the new model's carlike platform to position it as the most efficient vehicle in its class.

The NV200 is based on a stretched version of the same Renault-Nissan Alliance B platform as the Renault Logan and promises to be more efficient than the Innova, which has a heavier body-on-frame construction"

Interesting, indeed!

the new model Nissan planning to bring seems like a successor to this one,

i think the new model is targeted at hotels and will be priced similar to Mercedes MB100 van when it was on sale

A mini van is not only cheaper than SUV, it is easier to ingress/egress and load/unload also. Especially for the grand parents. Otherwise a Scorpio or a Safari would easily fill in this role in India.

It would be nice if Nissan can slot this MPV against the Innova; there are just too many innovas..

This is same as the Renault Trafik the older version of which has been introduced in India by the Tata's as the Winger.

I think there is a market for these kind of vehicles, if it were not for the dated looks of the winger and a grossly underpowered engine it would have done well. Something like this will be excellent for India.
