Default KA LTT Refund Instructions Anyone?

Friends,

On KA Transport Department website there used to be step-by-step
instructions on how to get prorata LTT refund after moving out of KA.
Apparently that information page has been removed. The fool that I am,
haven't saved the page when I had the chance. Do any of you have a copy
of these instructions by any chance? I'll need it once I have my car
re-registered in WB (hoping indeed I'll get the refund). Thanks in anticipation.

Smile Thanks

Thanks a lot, James. That was prompt!

Somehow I couldn't locate this particular page, the old link was defunct!

Now it remains to try this out, and report success a few months/years down the line!

Thanks for sharing the link. Unfortunately the agents I talked to had no idea about any LTT refund.

Now starts the long wait.
Don't worry. You will get it in 4-5 months. When I shifted from Bangalore to Noida, I had to wait that long but in the end was rewarded with 30,000.
Let me know if you have any questions.

@Sush

The site link says "The Refund application has to made in form no 16 along with proof of migration".. Any chance you have a copy of the Form 16 format and a definition of what constitutes "proof of migration"

Thanks!

Specific to Bangalore though.

Thanks!
Form 16 in Karnataka, this is specific to Karnataka : http://rto.kar.nic.in/Form_16.pdf.

Proof of migration would be xerox of new RC I guess. I'll be visiting the KR Puram RTO sometime this week to claim my refund, let's see how it goes.

Default Thanks guys!

Sush, you're the only successful person I know of till date, who has got a
refund! Do you remember what were the documents involved, (apart from
copies of the new RC book and the road tax receipt)?

Did you have to get your new RTO to send the CRTI report (intimation of
migration of vehicle) to the Bangalore RTO? Was it a standard process and
so, easy to get the local RTO to do it?

Also, the KA RTO site indicates form 16 needs to be filed. However, it
doesn't seem to be meant for an LTT refund! How did you fill it?
Did you save a copy?

sdp1975, are you already done with having the CRTI sent to the KR Puram RTO? Are you employing an agent in Bangalore? Do please update
regarding your experience.

Thanks guys, for all your help.

meerkat , I filled the memos at the WB RTO and payed some money to the clerk to send it by Regd Post - that was more than a month ago. I assume that this is the "CRTI" , so it should've arrived at the Bangalore ( KR Puram ) RTO.

Anyways, I've got my new regn number at WB - so this means that either the KR Puram RTO confirmed the memos - or that 30 days expired and KR Puram did not respond - not sure which one happened till I visit the RTO.

Nopes , no agent. Planning to do it myself. I think I should consider a future career as an RTO agent considering the #times I've been to the RTOs in Bangalore for various reasons. .

Going by my prior experience in getting the NOC, the RTO guys are reasonably OK, so I hope there won't be any problems with the refund although it might take some time. I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Normally, your old RC book is sent back to originating RTO. This takes a while. I need to claim my tax from Mumbai RTO

sdp1975, the memo you're talking about, sounds like the NOC confirmation
request that the the new RTO is supposed to send to the old RTO, prior to
re-registration.

The CRTI report (as I understand it) is probably something that is sent after
the re-registration has already happened. Anyway, you'll soon find out what
exactly the Bangalore RTO wants.

Are you still in Bangalore, so you can think of going to the KR Puram RTO as
and when necessary? My problem is, I've left Bangalore, and so, can't do that!

Talking about going to the RTO multiple times, today I've completed my 7th
day (2-4 hours each time), and of course, the job isn't done yet! Shall have
to go for how many more times by the time I'm done, I don't really know!

Still can't think of competing with the agents, -- there are literally scores of
them, and they're all unionized, with a badge and all that. They'd lynch me!

Is the RC book sent to the old RTO without the owner asking for it? How long
does it usually take? Is that what is called the CRTI, or is it something else?
