| Hello Friends, Yesterday one of my friend (Nitin Kalra) got lucky to be the one who spotted "Cherry". Yes I am correct, while driving back from office to his home he managed to click the three test mules from Cherry Automobiles on Ring Road. He followed them from Dhaula Kuan to Raja Garden, in fact the drivers from these three cars made him stop and asked to delete these pics. Cherry is very reputed company in China. Though their most of the models looks copy of highly sucessfull models. Let me shut my mouth and pictures do the work. Also I would like to thank my friend for sharing these pics. Chery Tiggo Chery QQ3 Chery J1 TX1.3 Sorry for shakky images, he was driving and shooting at the same time. Mods: Please excuse if any thread related to Cherry already exists. | Senior - BHPian | Great scoop ![]() So it seems that Chery is keen to come up with its cheap priced copies of matiz, mish-mash of panda and wagonR and an SUV to take on rio? Anyway it seems that the company will conduct a customer clinic soon. Model Listing Last edited by sidindica : 27th November 2009 at 14:54. |

| Senior - BHPian | Nice scoop. The small one looks so similar to the Spark. First time I have heard of a company called CHERRY - I googled it and there is a lot of it on Chinese websites. |

| So the chinese are here! Hmmm, interesting that they tried to stop your friend from taking photos. Chery's famous for copying GM designs.Hope the Indian market is mature enough to give them their due. I get the impression these guys are seriously working on their quality issues but hope Indian companies take the fight back to them. So far all Chinese auto inroads into the Indian markets have not worked very well. Just hope they don't bring substandard products in here.I don't think that will really work in India. What happened to the Premier Rio, folks?Maybe it is too early to tell. These guys sometimes move very very fast. |

| I have been in a few Chery(s) recently in China. They can make the new Vista look like E-class in quality. If they launch them in India, I wish all luck! |

| None of the above cars are camouflaged - so why were the driver(s) bothered? |

| That, though probably not really a tribute to the Vista , is a welcome thing to hear! But that does not mean Indian companies can take things for granted. The prices of these cars can be a chink in their armour. But the Rio has priced itself out of the market.Hope these do the same. |

| Great catch from your friend. 1) They are famous for copying designs from GM and almost every japanese manufacturer, except Hyundai in general. 2) Bajaj did file a case for Gulsar that was nothing but our first generation Pulsar range of bikes. I am not sure if Bajaj won or not. But nobody wins in China against chinese. If the spark copy comes up here, I would love to see GM VS cherry in India and I am sure GM will win. 3) The cars here are having a chance to get success only if they maintain overall quality and offer the cars at reasonable cost. I am sure they will manage to sell the cars at lower price, but I am not sure how is GM going to react to this. I am not a fan of chinese cars mainly due to copied designs and general lack of quality. Off late they were picking up quality, but still not that good. The SUV has a good chance of success if it comes below rs. 8 lakh OTR. Else brand or lack of brand value is going to kill them. Frankly speaking, the way and extent to which copying has been done, I feel its an insult of automobile. |

| Nice scoop coolbareilly Chery QQ3 Chery Tiggo ![]() ![]() The Suv looks similar to the 2nd gen Rav4 and does look sturdier than the Premier Rio. Chery J1 TX1.3 ![]() Somehow I don't like the looks. The European Ford Fiesta inspired front doesn't gel with the rest of the car. I don't mind the copied design of the SUV and might even consider buying one if its priced in the 6 to 7lacs range. VFM is the prime factor which both Indians and Chinese look for when buying a car. ![]() Last edited by harishnair : 27th November 2009 at 15:37. |

| Japanese were called cheap, low quality, then the koreans and now the chinese. Time will tell if the chinese will also improve and start making their own cars instead copying. But till then, I just don't want to see these copycats on our roads. |
