Post [TUPM Q4 2009] The Unofficial Price Map of Indian Car Scene

It started as a fun project when I did a price map for Maruti Suzuki (Price Map - 10/2009 - Maruti Suzuki)models. And then I decided to come up with a better booklet style of price map covering all the major manufacturers. I plan to publish updated price-map for every quarter (starting with this quarter) to - as long as possible.

To view, download the PDF attached, just below the JPEG images.

The Objective is to give a broad-picture of the current pricing and positioning of various cars, UVs. This will help most new car buyers to check out the options available across the manufacturers within a budget range.
  1. I opted to cover from 1L to 12L price range, as this is the most happening segment (sales number wise).
  2. All major manufacturers are covered, as to my knowledge. If anyone was left out, please inform.
  3. Only standard editions are captured here. Metallic paint variants if present, are listed over standard paint variants.
  4. Prices are for Chennai. For next quarter, I will choose another metro, and so on.
General Disclaimer: (Note to mod: Please edit if needed)
  1. Prices, Models are indicative and are sourced from a mix of manufacturer websites and other generic websites. No warranty for accuracy in details.
  2. People are advised to verify details and pricing with their respective city's dealers before deciding anything.
  3. Myself or Team-Bhp take no responsibility for any errors. We are not responsible for any decisions made by you, based on this guide.
  4. For any changes, errors please post in the comments. I will try to update the PDF, or if not possible, I will update in the next edition.
  5. By downloading the PDF, you agree to the Disclaimer.
Hope The Unofficial Price Map of Indian Car Scene is helpful to you all.

Hi Rajesh,

I am very much impressed by your efforts
You have done a good job.

But just price road map is of limited use for people
a Good Road map includes the following

List of Products (Brand, model, make, price, variants)
Model line up planned for the future
Technology and Feature list
Emission Norms, Regulations foreseen and conformance of the players
Accessories, Localization and Manufacturing trends
Distribution and Service network (# point of presence)

Good work Rajesh. A guide such as yours will surely help a lot of prospective buyers. Maybe you can also include a link to the TEAM BHP reviews of the cars where applicable!

I am thinking of Publishing an Update Edition around January 2010, or Mid February 2010 capturing some new models like Sumo Grande MKII etc. Additionally, I am thinking of listing a waterfall-style chart that lists all models in ascending-order, according to their price range.

And, how about renaming this guide as "The Un-Official Price Map Guide" ? or shall I retain the existing one?

Great Work .

Just a small feedback. is it possible to put the model[like xylo, alto, ritz] etc atleast for one of the variants. In that case even a noob can also understand this charts

Thanks,
Prakash.
