A small error in the upstream parts supplier's website - Tata Ace doesn't have a 0.8L engine. Its displacement is 0.7L or 702cc. And power is just 16 horses without a turbo.

Disclaimer: Source of information - http://ace.tatamotors.com/

TATA ACE family consists of 5 models:
01. ACE HT
02. ACE EX
03. ACE CNG
04. SUPER ACE
05. ACE ZIP

First three has 702cc engine but HT and EX have power out of 16hp whereas CNG version has slightly higher 22hp.

Super ACE has been powered by 1.4L engine, the yokefellow in TATA INDICA

Apart from these, ZIP has 610cc which is sourced from Greaves Cotton Ltd. with power output of 11hp.

Also they may consider using 0.8L engine (the quoted one) in ACE too no official confirmation yet in any of the forum.
Am I sounding skeptical yes, because looking at the past experience of quick decision changes in TATA

Default Tata Nano Diesel: Front end scooped by Team-BHP

Link to News Section

Tata Motors is developing a diesel variant of the Nano, with the car due for a launch sometime in 2014. Team-BHP has scooped the front end of the Nano Diesel. From the spyshot, it is clear that the Nano Diesel will feature a revised front end, with the bumper sporting an aggressive design.

Nano Diesel with CRDI technology coming? EDIT: Plans scrapped for now-tata-nano-diesel-spyshot.jpg

It remains to be seen if the new bumper design would be adopted to the petrol and the soon-to-be-launched CNG model of the Nano. Apart from the new bumper, the Nano Diesel's front end looks visually similar to the 2013 model of the car launched quite recently. The Nano Diesel also seems to carry over the dashboard and the seat design of the petrol powered model of the car.

The Nano Diesel could also feature a revised rear bumper design, aimed at better heat dissipation. The other key change at the rear will involve the petrol engine being replaced by a turbo diesel unit, a motor that could turn out to be one of the smallest turbo diesel motors in a production car.

Said to be derived from the Tata Ace DICOR mini pick up truck's 700cc diesel motor, the small capacity turbo diesel, common rail engine of the Nano is expected to deliver a high fuel efficiency figure. Fuel injection will be handled by Bosch while the turbocharger will be supplied by Garrett, now a part of the Honeywell group.

Speculated power and torque figures of the Nano Diesel center around the 40 Bhp and 60 Nm marks respectively. Sales of the Tata Nano have been far from encouraging. Tata Motors needs a big volumes spinner for the Nano project to break even and the diesel powered version represents a big hope for the Indian car and utility vehicle maker.

Talking volumes, Tata Motors has lined up another variant of the Nano for launch in the next month or so. The CNG-Petrol dual fuel version of the Nano, dubbed the Nano E-MAX will be launched soon. The CNG powered hatchback will come with running costs that are lower than the petrol variants, and the low running costs will be the unique selling proposition of the car.

As of now, the Sanand factory from where the Tata Nano rolls out, is operating at less than 20% of its total installed capacity of 250,000 cars/annum. Tata Motors has plans of using the Sanand facility to build the Ace mini pick up truck and a new small car if the volumes of the Nano don't pick up from current levels in the next year or so.

IMHO, it doesn't look aggressive and instead look like a grinning Pokemon character. Like Pikachu

As it from an OEM, I expected a bit more matured design. The bumper looks like an after market job. For a diesel car to be a hit in our market, the looks are of least importance. We have many classic examples. Anyways we need to see the exact prices.

I believe they should offer Manza type dashboard, Openable Boot, and more aggressive front, and should promote it "Easy to drive city car".

Please do not make any reference to suppliers as Nano diesel is only being tested and not in production.

Wasn't the CNG Version launched in the recent HorizoNext event?

That bumper "design" is somehow unreal. It looks like the bumper is bigger than the current one, yet somehow the front GC looks the same. Anyway, current bumper would be sufficient coz its afterall a rear engined N/A car.

I guess an Openable rear windscreen would do (coz its just an 80L boot anyway).

Also, as that involves them having to procure another EXPENSIVE moulding/dyeing/press machine, viz TOO much of an investment to access just an 80L boot, and I guess its going to be an impossible addition, else they'd have to move away from the original concept and price would have to be increased too.

INSTEAD, why not promote & devise features that would promote it as a car that it actually is, a smart city car thats honest to its cause. We've seen the EcoSport concept, where Ford has provided a smart product meant for the city thats also has SUV like features. Nano can be the car that has few of the functional advantages of an SUV along with the Economical advantages of a Hatchback, at a very economical cost.

Tata, please don't do this. You are killing what ever is left of the Nano. Nano doesn't need an air dam that big in the front, and don't be obsessed with the smiling grille. Please get creative, don't follow the pack.
I know you guys are following these posts.

That looks like an hatchdoor, with a lift handle on it.

Hatch door at the rear will be a boon. I am sure that will bring in a lot of buyers. I personally felt the missing hatch to be a deal breaker. Otherwise the Nano is pretty spacious and comfortable. Better than many cars at a higher price point.

Again from the rear also nothing new. Don't know what happened Tata Motor designers, all of sudden they started bringing the mesh to both front and rear bumper of Nano diesel. Don't know whether they are forced to use mesh for engine cooing requirement?

It does obviously look like Pikachu, Wondering what would be the displacement, It can be the smallest, @ JayPrashanth, Waiting for the news!

From the news article, It says that the speculated power ratings are 40 bhp and 60 NM. Relief that the hatch door is openable, also the rear bumper looks sporty.

If priced right, the Nano is sure to break a few records with the Diesel variant I wish all the luck to Tatas. I still hate the tooth less grinning bumper.
The rear air dam reminds of the smiling front facial trade mark.

IMO the front bumper was good the was it was. Could have pepped up the front and sides with some graphics for the new launch.
