GUYS it is true - Except the occasional rattel inb Dashboard and rear parcel tray which I could locate and easily remove I do not have any rattles in My Santro after 6 years and 80,000 km. That and the test drive in 20,000 km Run Getz made me switch from Swift to getz loyalist .Rattles and breaking down suddnely on road are the two most hated things for me in car. Thank god My Santro has never devloped any problem. (Off course maintained at manuf. recommended service intervals). And mind you I have had my corrola failing in critical department such as brakes and clutch( Actually it was carina which had clutch failuer)

| Noticd one more thing....rattles are easier to hear when the windows are rolled up as opposed to general noise that appears when the windows are rolled down. So...back to my original question...do we get persons who specialise in removing rattles.... |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | For a "rattle-free" drive, go the Tata way - the Dicor comes with an engine bay that looks like a padded cell and the carpets inside are about 1/2 an inch thick. No wonder the friggin vehicle weights two tonnes.

| BHPian | As we have cursed teh rattles in length and depth, Here are a few tips I follow to minimize teh rattles.. 1. Source of most rattle are the joints of dis-similar materials, like metal to rubber, metal to plastcs, glass, etc, Most of them have rubber intermediate fasteners to minimize the rattle.. So treat the rubber parts with good rubber care stuff.. I try to use some "formula 1" on the door rubber lining, and rolling glass window beedings.. whenever I hear rattels, most of them get fixed. 2. Most door trims are fitted to body with clips, which are made of plastics and tend to fall off, watch for them and replace immediately. Tricky thing, If you fail to replace teh first one, second one will break soon!! (resonance) 3. Use a good lubricant on movable joints, 4. I have found doors are the main source of rattles ( atleast on my petra), Get the door latch ring adjusted during the service. 5. Pay attention to parcel tray clips, whcih tend to fall off, 6. Poorly fitted speakers are one more pain, Check them periodically and fasten. cheers, rattle free driving!!

| Sometimes there are rattles because of half opened windows. I see a lot of this in my safari. Ofcourse the older the safari gets, the more the squeaking and rattles from all the plastic adhering components. I recently went to JC road in Bangalore and i talked to a few of the interior guys and they told me that they would add a thin insulation strip between the plastics to dampen the noise. I wasnt too happy with their comment that they cannot get rid of the noise altogether. Anyway, will update when i get the car checked out and the expenses normalized! |

About the rattling sound, I guess its the window glass pane touching some of the channeling or maybe the channeling itself is touching the door frame. It just needs a little adjustment, rest assured that nothing is falling apart or has already turned into a zillion pieces. Regards, Kylo | |
