Eventhough there are many cars in the list which I would like to vote for as the car of the year, Nano definitely deserves the prize. This is a very important car for our country, for Tata and for the world.

And should really respect the bravemind of Mr.Tata to keep his promise of a 1 Lakh rupee car even after ten years and when a 1 Lakh 10 years back can now easily equated to 2/3 Lakhs.

My vote for Nano.

But I would also like to mention Linea, Punto and Ritz as the runner ups

My mind not letting me to submit the post without mentioning Linea atleast somewhere in the reply post for the Car of the year.

No no no!!! No nano for me. I feel its an achievement for an Indian car maker but this is one car I wouldn't want to be seen in... for sure.

COTY for me is Tata Manza... [More sedan per sedan]

For me it's clearly the Fiat's comeback car "The Linea".

I voted for Nano inspite of owning a Punto. The Nano brought India some serious name and fame in the Automobile industry mostly dominated by Americans and Europeans.

In this thread I found some cars are missing for voting. For example i20 is a good car and I could not understand why it is not in the list above for voting. Is it the last year's car?

The i20 was launched in Dec 2008. Had you gone through the entire thread you would have seen it being mentioned.

I'm not even going to blink before I vote for the Nano. Sure, it turned out a little more expensive than it started out to be. However, the real reason to vote for the Nano is because it started a new trend. A trend to design smaller, lighter, more efficient, yet safe. It's a much more challenging task to design smaller and lighter within a tight budget.

And since Tata jumpstarted the movement, it is now forcing a lot of other manufacturers to follow suit. More importantly, it started the movement in our own country. Which means that the ideal city runabout for India, is not going to be imported or priced absurdly.

for me the car of the year has to be TATA NANO.
its the instant reaction for the COTY, as Nano deserves it.
and thanks TATA for giving the world and India the great NANO.

I think we all should be proud of the fact that Nano got a absolute paradigm shift in the thinking in the Auto industry. I think the number of votes vis-a-vis the competition is a good indication.

It's got to be the Tata Nano!

It's revolutionary and now spawning a lot of me too's.

It might be the world's cheapest car, but by no means does it look and feel like the cheapest.

One point that blew me away was the HUGE amount of space inside such a tiny car.

I am voting for the HONDA JAZZ. I think it's a perfect Indian Car and Hatch and has excellent seating and luggage capabilities which is perfect for the Indian Customer.

Sadly it never picked up because of the pricing which is Honda's fault. If priced 1 lac less the sales would pick up.

We are always looking at maximum bang for our rupee - which is not bad really BUT does not always work.

I'd give the Fortuner my vote BUT I do not consider SUV's as a mass seller ( at least in India ). They are for Niche Luxury classes. Otherwise it's a perfect SUV and gives excellent VFM for the size / value ratio.

Tata Nano - Although a lot has been achieved with the launch of this car BUT sadly it does not come at 1 lac which was the main point ( I do not blame Mr Ratan Tata for this ) - the AC model comes at almost 2 lacs and I'd choose a Maruti 800 or an Alto any day over a Nano by paying the extra 50 - 60k.

I also know that the Tata Nano would win this poll by a huge margin. The NANO will also win a lot of other autombile awards starting next year. And it should rightly also Just my viewpoint.
