It is definitely 0-60mph.
However acc to carmagazine.co.uk it does 0-62mph in 13.9 secs.

dude, Tata Nano can do a 0-60 kmph in like 9.x seconds. Alto 800cc does it under 7 seconds. It cant be a 0-60 kmph in 12 s, unless Renault plans to bring the slowest vehicle ever to India.

It is miles per hour, and if it is 12 seconds, that is pretty fast. You can add another half second or more to reach 100kmph. That would indeed be pretty fast for an SUV in this price bracket.

thanks Buddy! Thats very impressive for a miniSUV with a 1.5L with 85bhp. I am guessing the 110bhp version will be able to shave off a couple of seconds - maybe bring it to 12s levels.

Renault is making mistakes one after another by launching cars that will not increase any numbers. Instead of launching Pulse they should have concentrated on Duster launch. I hope they will stick to the mid 2012 launch.

I am not sure I can agree with this. Pulse may (or may not) be a good car. But it will probably get more numbers than Duster in any case. Its a small entry level car (lower price segment) from Renault against an entry level SUV (still expected to be priced around 2x times more than Pulse).

If however, you are talking about numbers as in bottom-line, then its a different case altogether.

Best example is Mahindra XUV500, it is sold because of its Look and Price, 8000 in just 10 days, ride is good not perfect, I test drove it quite long.

I am considering Duster will be priced lower than XUV, it has got the look and considering 1.5 110 bhp engine should be fuel efficient as well powerful enough for Duster.

Spoke to the Renault dealer in jaipur. He had the following points regarding the Duster

1. They have seen the car as it was displayed for the dealers.
2. It will be priced in between 8-10 lakhs
3. Its a 5 seater but the dealers have requested it to be 7 for Indian conditions.
4. Launch will be in April 2012
5. It will be displayed in the auto expo

Thank you for this information.

Predictably, the 110 bhp 2WD variant is the fastest one. Although, it wouldn't really make a difference. This car's purpose, after all, isn't to go fast. that said, figures tell only half the truth.

The car should be efficient in putting its power down onto the ground via the gearbox. The ratios have to be tuned for city-driving as this car will see most of its time within city boundaries, apart from the occasional drive across the country-side.

Hope Renault throws in a good transmission that will translate that 110 horsepower output onto the road quickly and efficiently. And I'm hoping that the car will be dynamically sound.

After watching a few reviews of the Duster shot abroad, I'm impressed, but it can't be priced anywhere near the XUV, as it would lose out terribly and be an instant flop. The XUV will just eat a huge chunk of the Duster's margin every month.

EDIT: The XUV is a huge threat to this, simply because it offers more of everything (loads of electronic equipment, 6 Airbags, 7 seats) for just a fraction more (if they get the price wrong). And that's why, Renault would be making a huge mistake if it's anywhere in the XUV's radar.

A fair amount of localization should help it be priced correctly. I'd say that the best price for this car would be 7-11 lakhs.

I wonder if it's feasible to make it a 7 seater - it simply is not long enough! Anyway, I would much rather have it as a 5 seater. So if they do somehow manage to squeeze 2 more seats into it, I would certainly hope there would be an option to buy a 5 seat configuration.

There has been a lot of talk about it being in the 8-10 Lakh band, certainly hope this is in fact how it turns out, and with a decently loaded top end version. (Else, XUV500 here I come).

Same here. I want a 5 seater, but won't mind if I have the option of putting in 2 more seats in the rear (to accommodate 7 people) or taking them out at my will (in case there is loads of luggage & fewer people).

XUV is no doubt a very good alternative. However I want a SUV which can cater to my daily office commute needs (70%) as well as serve me well on the highways/ rural roads for my weekly/ monthly outstation trips (30%). I won't mind a powerful 2.2 liter engine (140 BHP) for my highway needs, but for the office commute when I am alone in the car I want a decently powered car which is rated high on FE, & for both these needs a car like Duster (110 BHP) fits the bill just fine.

No 7 seater please. 5 comfortably seating configuration should be good. Or there must be an option for 5 and 7 seater. 1.5 110 bhp has good 0-100 means, good fuel efficiency and decent power.

I can not wait until mid 2012, so going to book XUV in Jan. If Duster launches before I get the delivery of XUV then I can switch to Duster.

There is no ways Duster can be made a 7-seater. If dealers are to be cared about, then they would clonk all the cars to fit 20 people.

I am wondering if at all they do decide to make it a 7er, the two additional seats can be put on the roof. Why not 4 then?

If Mahindra Xylo CS can be a 5+2 seating car at that footprint, I see no reason why two jump/kid seats cant be accomodated in a Duster. Having an option does not hurt anyone.
