Why are the center AC vents placed that way?
They could have easily placed it in a much better way.

They have been intentionally placed that way as it apparently cools the rear seat much more effectively as per Toyota.

Good News. Now people can think of having a Toyota Brand at their home
Competitive price plan can shake some companies market share.
It will be also nice if Toyota can set up more network to sell this car.

I don't want to get carried away with it's FE so soon since the ARAI certifies it at 17.6KMPL and we all know ARAI testing doesn't reflect the true road conditions and various driving styles.

In reality this car may provide between 12 to 15 Kmpl depending on how we drive.

One thing is good, that the ugly/beautiful (the way you look at it) red interiors seem to be present only on the top variant! That's a sigh of relief if it is true.

More than the rear seat cooling, the normal vents are placed right behind the steering wheel which mostly will hit the hands and will obstruct reaching the person. To avoid this they have placed the vents like that! Since there is no obstruction, it reaches / cools the rear portion also in a better way.

Cmon...How much is swift D's ARAI certified mileage? 20-21? I personally get 23-25 kmpl in my highway trips depending on the speed. Or the figure mentioned here is an avg of city + highway drives?

Also please note that all the cars in ARAI are tested the same way, on same parameters. So if this car is rated 17, there are cars which are rated as low as 12 or 13 and higher as 20 kmpl. So I think this is one of the best FE that a petrol car can get !

By the way could anyone tell me how much is Dzire' Petrol version's mileage [ARAI certified] ?

This is a love it / loathe it design from the Toyota stable. Much like the Swift Dzire from Suzuki. Frankly, I hated the cheap plastics, filthy build quality and the Logan-like overall design cues. The price with which it has been launched might just do the trick for Toyota.

This car is often going to be mistaken round for a facelifted Logan. The glovebox has an interisting design. From the pictures looks like the quality is top notch.

For me, Toyota Etios looks like a modified Renault Logan

Though the interiors look a bit quirky, I like it. But, I'm very disappointed to see that Toyota is not offering automatic climate control and power adjustment for OVRM.

The pricing looks very tempting. But on a different note I do doubt whether we will be getting a stripped down basic version with absolutely no features at 5.25 lakhs! Who knows?

What a dumb statement by Toyota! If this contraption is so earth shattering then why didn't they offer this in Camry/Innova/Altis? They want rear seat occupants of these cars to sweat it out? Trying to justify a cheap design or is it cost cutting.
