Are you sure? I always thought Safari is derived from something existing and Indica was their first Indigenous effort (with the help from IDEA)

They had benchmarked the Ambassador Interior size and the Esteem exterior dimentions and Maruti 800 pricing for their first car Indica. More or less got it right.

The Land Rovers, and Land Cruiser too have a 10-15 year cycle in churning out newer shape variants (not minor mods to light fixtures and engines). So 10-15 years for the Safari is actually par for the course.

Will not get into the Scropio vs Safari fight - there are other threads for that and both have their own space in the market at their respective price points.

Innova + CRV if achieved with quality - we would all be happy, especially as we already see a lot othe Landroverish interiors.

According to that famous quote of Mr Ratan Tata, the Indica benchmarking went like this:
  1. Interior space: Ambassador
  2. Exterior size: Zen (not Esteem)
  3. Price: There was nothing about price in that quote
  4. Economy: It'll offer the fuel efficiency/economy of a diesel

Wencher ? The name makes it sound like a hardy workhorse ready for some farm duty.
Is it what the new "Safari" going to be known as ?

I guess he meant the Venture....a wench with a wrench would be quite good instead of a Wencher.

Well dictionary meaning is not very pleasent for Wencher.

Wench is a maid servant or more often a wanton loose woman and a Wencher is a lecharious fellow or womanizer so I would be surprised at the choice of name

Oppps.. Sorry guys my mistake. It's 'Venture' and not the former one.
It is a type of mini-VAN(remember from Maruti), which is targetted for touring business or purposes.

That is a letdown. They were supposed to launch it in the first quarter of this calender year. One Year delay.

Tata never gave an official lauch date, Everthing was mere speculation. So no question of delay. But i am sure it will be available just in time for the festive season.

It hasbeen confirmed by TATA's higher authorities(launch not price), Yesterday only a person(did'nt remember designation) who was on a reputable post said in a press conference where i was present and i can post the proof too that Venture and Aria are this year end launches.(as said in press conference by a Tata official)

If people here want i can post proof i.e the whole column of 'Dainik Bhaskar'. Now, Do you trust the worthy 'Dainik Bhaskar' printing such rumours.
