Well, I've noticed a lot of much goody goody reviews about Hyundai in Overdrive as well. Over the last 1-2 years, Hyundais have got the best reviews of all the cars!

Yes, OD has been generous to Hyundai, too. May be Hyundai is very good at courting press. Or, may be they dangle ad revenue carrot. Koreans, especially Hyundai and Samsung appear very good at media blitzkrieg, promos and "befriending" press. Not that their products are inferior, but their marketing acumen appears to be excellent.

Well!! I believe all our auto magazines have some or the other article which is paid publicity. And why not? When mainstream newspapers like Times of India, Mumbai Mirror and Bombay Times have fully paid advertisements posing as articles, an auto magazine can join the party.

Biggest lies/errors lie in the road tests, zero to hundred timings and fuel economy. However not much harm done, since today almost all car/bike buyers rely on peer to peer or online forums for reviews before they decide what vehicle to buy. The influencing power of magazines is on the decline.

Well i believe it was the September 2008 issue and they(ACI) had a comparo of SUVs including a Gypsy. All technical data provided in the article was that of a Gypsy King 1.3 MG413 model while they had actually used an old Gypsy 1 litre, which was pretty obvious and evident from the pictures in the article. I wrote to them an email and they apologized in their Letter of The Month page under the heading 'Gypped'.

I reckon they mess up occasionally but still are the best ones around.
Not a month has passed since many years that i haven't craved for the new issue to be published every month. ACI indeed is such.

Not related to this, Korean companies do anything to get everything in their favor - http://thenextweb.com/insider/2012/0...eatened-leave/

Remember that Hyundai have conservative to moderate drive trains etc. but offer the best Creature Comforts in their class(es). So anybody who is biased towards these will naturally rate them high.

many of these magazines seem to ignore budget cars of Indian automakers
a case in point is the comparisons of hatches, they make sure that Indica Vista is always missing
and if they do include it they make sure that it is projected in a bad light
we do agree that our local makers do lack the media savvy attitude but make products which are in no way inferior

I have seen ACI standards going down of late. with TBHP, i dont feel teh neeed for auto mags any more and they are at best recreational reading while on the "Throne" . hence, i have now taken a subscription to Top Gear- at least the feature columns are entertaining to read.

BSM was a class apart once upon a time, but that too has been bitten by the commercialisation bug and is now indisnguishable from teh other mags.

True that. Despite slogging for so long, Rohin got his own column couple of years later, but a new recruit began penning at the place of the ex-editor!

Of the writers, it is the photographer, who compiles the best story (Pablo)

. Same here. But I say with the advent of tablets, this particular issue can also be taken care of. We can directly hook to TBHP from the "Throne"

I had stopped ACI subscription after TBHP, but had nothing worthwhile to buy with my payback points, hence decided to spend the points on a one year subscription this year.

I used to read Autocar and OVerdrive but with membership on TBHP well everything stopped noting like a first hand review and user experience.

The mags should work more on testing real road FE and give inputs for Indian drive conditions. Creature comforts are for user to determine and you do not need a mag to tell you that.

All these magazines wastes around 10 pages for car pricing which is outdated pricing and even models and pictures, which is quite useless. Many times their scoop had gone disastrous, they scoop a car which is never going to be launched in india. The annual editions are just jokes.,

Fellas I got his advertisement from India Today
3years subscription of AUTOBILD for 2900 and get a JVC KD R-325 Car Stereo(worth 6K) free.
This is an introductory offer of AUTOBILD India to market.

The HU ain't having USB slot. A very basic one
How is the offer!?! is the HU price correct as per market?

Worth going?

dont buy a magazine for the freebies it offers. Buy it for the content i t offers. There are other better magazines and better equipped HUs in the Market.
