3. Any idea how much the rear canopy (as in the image), with fitment, cost?

Attachment 526111

EDIT: Just had a word with a sales rep in Delhi. Quoted price was 11.13 Lacs on road with ~30K extra for the canopy.
So the with canopy on road price might come to 11.5 - 11.7 Lacs as I think he was conservative while quoting the amount of the canopy.
1. Its a nice vehicle for 4 for sure, but the rear seat might be a pain on touring because of poor recline.
2. has a decent legroom for a person who's 6 F tall.. again its got poor thigh support.
3. Canopy costs around 36K and i think painting charges are extra.

Thanks for the info mate! Well, I checked Xenon in person and opted to ditch it. The rear bench is not anywhere close to comfort and I found the vehicle to be overpriced seeing what it offers. I'd rather pitch in coupla more lakhs and go for Safari VX 4x4!

Default Re: Tata Xenon XT 2010

I own a silver xenon 2009 model.

here are a few things i would like to share about it

since i bought it - it has given me problems with the steering column. the power steering keeps dying. supposedly tata used a new steering pump or something for the xenon. they replaced it with a safaris pump which didnt work. and neither does the xenons. from day 1 i have had problems with the steering on my xenon. i almost died once when i was taking a turn on a flyover and the steering died right before the turn
This problems has still not been fixed and i have to get the steering overhauled every 2 months by tata (they do it for free tho)

it handles really really bad - i live in hyderabad. on the airport flyover i was touching about 120 and came into a decent right hander. while making the turn i just left the accelerator (didnt press the brake) the rear started skidding away and lost traction.

this is a very powerful truck and needs ABS and ESP!!

apart from that its ok. the fit and finish of the car is typical TATA.. meaning they think of some cool stuff to put in.. (ex. when u unlock the car the area where u put the key in lights up) however the panel gaps are really bad. the bullbar in front leans to one side and has done so since day one.

i would not recommend this truck to anyone.

as of now i have a bolero, scorpio and a xenon. and boh mahindra vehicles and WAYYYY better than the tata..

i also own a tata marina and a manza and i am not at all happy with TATA cars.

sorry about turning this into a rant - but i love my country and i would love to support it by buying indian cars - especially tata.. but they have to improve their quality.

i dream of the day when you can compare a tata to a toyota and the tata would come out on top

until then - if u want a pick up truck but the new mahindra one based on the scorpio!

I'm a happy Xenon owner here in Italy, it works great off-road, and till now no relevant problems arose.

Is there anyone that could tell me where I could find steel or alloy wheels for my Tata Xenon?
Iíve been searching here in Europe everywhere without success.
Is there a shop, which might take arrangements for shipping wheels here in Italy?
Thanks a lot,

Ps: Do you know what is the maximum physically possible tyre size for a 2 inches lifted Xenon?

Question Re: Tata Xenon XT 2010

Unconfirmed news that a bunch of the Tata Xenons bought by Uninor (they were supposed to have bought 75 of them), have now been auctioned off, and are available for ~6.0 lacs from used car dealerships. Is this true ? Anyone has more info on this?

IIRC, all the Uninor Xenons were black, 4X2 and had the canopy fitted on the load-bay.

Yes, this is absolutely TRUE. Uninor is selling about 18 Xenons in Bangalore alone and there are three of them at a reseller in my area. All three are in Black (4X2 version) with Canopy and being offered at 6.8-7.0 lacs. The Canopy's seemed worn out and defective in 1-2 models.

Just yesterday as I got out of home, I saw a Xenon XT Test mule on the road. It had the same stance and "Limited Slip Differential" written at the rear with the front grill in all black.

Could not click any pics as I was driving.

Is the XT being launched again with some tweaks?

And exactly why is Uninor selling all these vehicles? Doesn't sound like the kind of news which would get me excited to buy these. Or is it a usual affair with these companies?

This vehicle had such potential. If only it had a better brand taking care of it In the same sgment, Toyota Hilux is immensely popular in Thailand. If they launch one with a smaller engine in India (2.4L, since Hilux currently has the 3.0L one) and price it sensibly, it would have many takers over here I'm sure.

Hi Antonio,

The Xenon has a 160 PCD 5 hole pattern wheels. This pattern is used only in a few models in India hence the wheels are not available outside India.

Tata Safari club in Italy has developed a steel wheel for this pattern. They are sold through the offroad store called Off Quattro. I have bought a set from them a few years back. Please contact them and see if they have stock.
