This is still speculation. A news report suggested this as a possibility and there has been no official announcement yet. Dealers are using this news clipping as a means of encouraging people to make an immediate buy decision.

I went to the GM showroom today. I was handed yet another price sheet for the Beat this time.

They told that the VAT increased from 9% to 12% or something, and hence the Ex showroom price itself has increased by about 7-8k for each model.

So now, assuming the life tax is 12%, Beat prices in Hyd for the metallic version are:

Base : 4.06
LS : 4.29
LT : 4.76 (!!)
LT(O) : 5.22

Insane taxation!

And to add to the tax increase, now the 2nd car rule is not only on the same name but on same family (meaning same address). So if you are buying a 2nd car of your family, be ready to pay 14%

the irony of middle class in India will never end!!

First we pay tax at source(a good amount) and then we also end up paying every other tax on the planet and still do not have infrastructure for anything!!(Food, Life & Health, roads, water, safety etc!!)

what a shame!! we are one lousy nation in this aspect. We need to stop paying all these taxes to support these political parties to squeeze us and feed them and thier electorate pools!!

My advance apologies if I am hurting anybody's sentiments.

12% for all the new vehicles costing up to 10L and 14% for above 10L.

That's killing.

Just bumping up an old thread, how does the HYD RTA track if its a 1st vehicle or a 2nd vehicle?is it a voluntary disclosure on the part of the customer or is it some computerised mechanism?

Reason being,I traded my old car for a new car with the showroom, however I am not sure,if the name of the old car has been changed yet(if the car has been sold to another customer or not),while it is time for the new car to be registered.Documents are available to the effect that the earlier car is no longer in my possession.

Its a computerised mechanism wherein if your name shows up on their database you gotta pay 14%. So make sure from the car showroom guy whether your car has been sold and transferred.

+1. In addition to that if car is above 10 Lakhs (ex-showroom) it doesnt matter if its your 1st car or 10th car. It is flat 14%

You can go out of Hyderabad with your Temp Registration. No problem on that.Just make sure your Temp Registration is valid. I myself travelled on the 3rd day of buying the car to Bangalore and had a brush with the police for something else. They didn't object.

guys, bad news again. I got a call from Audi showroom today and they are sure that the lifetax of vehicles costing more than 10 lakhs will be 19% to 20% now. Now i have to pay a whopping 180000 more for the car if im not purchasing it before 1st sept :( Now i'm thinking twice to cancel the booking.

this is insanity....wat the Heck are they doing with so much money..this is by far the highest in the country and yet the roads & traffic are the worst in the country.
